A UK General Election and Trump already "sticking his nose" in it....
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/201...is-johnson
I've added the Guardian "take" on Johnson's option of extending the Withdrawal Agreement and one para highlights that Johnson would find it fairly challenging politically to extend beyond the EU's deadline date of 1 July 2020 but does not mention anything about all the wealthy tax avoiders in the UK who are gonna benefit. The thing that irritates and angers me is the fact that we are not "chasing down" possibly billions of pounds of tax revenue under the same banner!!! Jeeeezzzzz!!! Surely the tax authorities should be pushing for this tax loophole to be filled anyway no matter who the offenders actually are - an absolute disgrace and just confirms what a corrupt country it is with unscrupulous people "honeymooning" senior govt officials and the corruption looks like it is also endemic within the British govt! Re Corbyn's concession to a Xmas election, I am enlightened and knew that the SNP/Ian Blackford were well up for a Xmas election in Scotland - their agenda and plan (they did not dismiss the possibility of a majority Tory govt!!) were totally different from a unionist Labour Party that, as predicted in one of my previous threads, were gonna be "wiped out" in Scotland with Ian Murray's "football vote" seat in Edinburgh S being the sole survivor and Murray is not even highly regarded by the Labour Party or union barons!! However, IMO the SNP would not have sided with the Tories to call a Xmas General Election if the Labour Party was not "on board". Just an opinion but it would've damaged their "standing" up here in Scotland. As for the Libdems, I think my son placed his astonishment succinctly re Libdem voters after the results were announced in Scotland - "Who the f### voted for Libdem up here after gleaning all the relevant damning info on them and their imploding leader, Swinson, who was definitely dodgy"!? As baffling as the two ill-informed guys in the bedsit mentioned by Amelia! Thumb down

Not so.

As soon as the prospect of a GNU went (thanks to swinson) both the lib dems and SNP opted for an election before labour. This was problematic as starmer wanted more time to analyse the withdrawal agreement and the PLP were definitely not keen but corbyn was left with nowhere else to go. There are loads of things to blame him for,but this isn't one of them.

Sturgeon played it smart as she usually does. No way would she have wanted the prospect of a confirmatory referendum down south before an independence one in Scotland, it would have made her look stupid if the UK had voted to remain. So in my opinion she (and swinson) pushed the button knowing labour were 10 pts behind and in with no chance. The lib dems hoped to gain more of the labour remain vote but in the end the opposite happened - a testament to her crap leadership.

Also it made sense to get the election out the way before the salmond publicity hits the fan, and believe me certain figures in the SNP do not come out of this looking good.

On a different note did anyone notice the similarity between Johnson's main election soundbite, "Get Brexit done", and Trump's US election "clarion call" - "I'm gonna build a wall" lol Laugh The methodology and likeness is so spooky by two different people who were at the forefront of a populist campaign to take over a country and force their RW political ideology on the population, eventually leaving the populace polarised and divided - job done!!!

0762, there are too many coincidences between Johnson and Trump for my liking - the hair, the US/UK family connections, the bluster and lies, etc. They were both born in New York, the same as Rosemary's Baby (a coincidence?). Anyway, they are equally dangerous to their respective countries and remember that absolute power corrupts absolutely and they both have it..

Aye! There is a very serious side to the politics that we are being exposed to Ritchie. Hopefully one of Rosemary's babies "across the pond" will "come a cropper" in the months ahead. It would be so invigorating for many millions n millions of normal free-thinking people to see at least one of them removed from global politics and consigned to history. Ideally, two would be a godsend but I'd need to go to a church to "talk to god" and ask for a miracle which I don't think would happen anyway!! I could go farther and ask, "Is there a God" after observing such political turmoil and angst that is really unfair but such terrible events (some are even worse elsewhere!) are not just happening here on home soil - I'M NOT GONNA GO THERE!!

People are saying if Labour had gone out for Remain they would have won the election. No they wouldn't, they would have got thrashed even worse. A lot of left wing commentators are saying it was Labour's stance on Brexit which made them lose the election, yes it was but also it was the fact that the electorate didn't like Corbyn and the fact is they thought the manifesto that Labour was proposing was too radical and unrealistic.

Labour need to ask themselves 3 questions:

1. What do we stand for?

2. Who do we represent?

3. Do we want to win elections?

The party has become so middle class and London centric and it's lost touch with it's roots and that probably started with Blair. Majority of the electorate don't care about things like 'self identification' they care about public services, housing, jobs, job security, the NHS, transport, the cost of living, crime, high levels of immigration, security of the country.

Labour need to talk about aspiration and ambition, they need to be the champions of small business, they should be a hand up not a handout. They need to be a vehicle for social justice and change, they need to help and look after the vulnerable and the least well off in society. They need to bring communities together and inject and renovate the big industrial towns which have been forgotten about and left behind but they shouldn't do that by gentrification because gentrification forces out people on the lowest incomes and the demographic and population then changes.

I just finished watching the most harrowing, disturbing and most frightening films I've seen in a while. It's called 'The Dirty War On The NHS'. It was shown on ITV last night at 10:45pm. It was meant to be shown before the election but an embargo was brought out on it from being shown on TV during the election campaign. The film talked about privatisation in our NHS especially from American healthcare firms and insurance companies. It's even touched on what happens to people in America who can't afford healthcare insurance.

Corbyn was right, the NHS is slowly being privatised and sold off. It started with Blair, the coalition carried it on in 2011-2012 and now it's at breaking point. He warned us all last week, yet the people ignored the warning in favour of Brexit.

You can catch it on the ITV hub player. Twitter are talking about it but I guess the media and newspapers will ignore it and pretend it never happened.

Actually matt looking at the statistics of that election labour lost more remain votes than leave. Obviously it was a really difficult call to make for Corbyn but he ended up taking way too long and looking shifty on such an important issue.

Starmer is going for leadership and If they have any plans to try and defeat the tories they need to elect him, he is the only credible candidate.

As predicted in one of my previous threads arise Sir Nigel ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!! That is the "icing on the cake" that epitomises the "rotten" country that we live in!!!!!! Another absolutely hated character in Scotland who was well sussed out years ago and never made any inroads up here at all. Not so in England although I must say there must similarly be millions n millions of decent like-minded people in England who will be cringing when observing the spectacle of this fascist moron being given his Royal "gong" by the Queen and the sneering that will follow!!!! Thumb down What a country, what a anachronistic system of false superiority!!!! Crass recognition of a conniving fascist and racist - YOU COULDN'T MAKE IT UP!!! AND DOING THIS AT A JOYOUS TIME OF THE YEAR DURING THE FESTIVE SEASON! Screeeeaaaaammmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re that discussion on Corbyn, there is a good article in the londoneconomic.com page (above) that you'll see calls him the "most smeared person in Britain" - THE ESTABLISHMENT AND THEIR EVER FAITHFUL MEDIA "DID A NUMBER" ON CORBYN FOR QUITE A WHILE AND ONE CAN'T DISMISS THAT FACT OUT OF HAND!!!! Again I must say this is the country we live in and many people in England must feel like they are living in a time bubble - they have never moved forward from this kinda shit where a corrupt wealthy elite and their backers continue to "rule the roost" using any poisonous tactics that are deemed within the rules of democracy. There are corrupt African countries/govts and others in the Middle East/SE Asia that are structured in such a way that a minority of rich elite dictate and ensure they have power over people who they regard as inferior minions to them and their lifestyle!!! And yet we are looking at an English governance that is so similar and wrong, operating on the same lines - AGAIN YOU COULDN'T MAKE IT UP!!
