A UK General Election and Trump already "sticking his nose" in it....

The last time Labour won a large majority on a left wing manifesto was 1966.

1931 was the last time the Conservatives got a complete landslide where they got a majority of 162 seats. Labour got 52 seats in total.

I've been looking at all the polls and everything seems to be indicating a Conservative majority of anything between 6 and 120. Personally can't see a 120 majority happening because the polls don't take into account the SNP or the smaller parties.

I'm pretty wary of the polls at the moment matt. They all use different methods and samples, they are all over the place. I'm not sure labour are as far behind as made out. Nor do they take into account the large amounts of tactical voting that is going to on this time out - for the first time.

That said corbyn doesn't need to win, he just needs the tories to lose. They will lose 9/10 seats in Scotland and a good few to Lib Dems and labour. The DUP looks gone now. It all depends on how many of the leave seats they take from labour, if they take enough they could well get a majority.

Labour really needed to move on Corbyn earlier this year and do a reset - he had his moment in 2017.

Have to remember though a lot of the polling companies are owned by people who are more likely to vote Conservative than any other political party so of course they will favour the Conservatives. It also depends on the question that is being asked and how it's being asked.

The Labour heartlands will be interesting because will they still remain towards Labour or will the Brexit Party split the vote allowing the Tories to take control of them. I think there is a lot more important issues than Brexit or Scottish independence at the moment. 2017 was meant to be the Brexit election but that went down like a lead balloon for the Conservatives.

Even if Labour had got rid of Corbyn and brought someone else is as leader then the media would still continue with the character assassinations and vilify them. The mainstream media in this country are a disgrace because a lot of them let politicians get away with claims they make even though they are false and refuse to challenge these claims.

Some of the stuff you read on social media or hear on voxpops by the general public is astonishing, there are people out there who work in the NHS, education etc who are voting Conservative because they don't like Corbyn or they repeat the rhetoric which is said in the media mainly by the right wing newspapers.

These claims that the Conservatives are going reverse austerity when they were the one's which heaped it on the country and then they say they are going to put 20,000 new police officers on the streets but are ignoring the fact they cut 21,000. Back in 2015 the Tories said they were going to build 200,000 homes for first time buyers, how many got built? None. 2 days after the 2017 general election they abandoned their manifesto.

Then you've got Labour who seem to be promising everything and anything which sounds like a wish list that even Santa couldn't deliver.

If the Conservatives win a majority then they will pass through a Brexit deal which isn't even Brexit and is Brexit in name only and then the people will be up in arms about it and if there is a hung parliament then we will be right back where we started and I honestly think if there is a hung parliament then we are probably looking at a 2nd referendum.

Disagree. They will kick the ball past the point where article 50 can be revoked, and then at the end of the transition period go for a no deal. Its what Boris has promised trump and the ERG....and probably farage too.

This is who England are about to make PM. A blatant security risk, much more than Jeremy corbyn ironically.

It is funny because I managed to get on a bbc radio prog recently to point out that it is embarrassing to see a "dodgy" Prince Andrew behaving very suspiciously and as "shady" as it can be and then we have a "dodgy" PM who is under investigation by the Met and has a lotta other highly questionable issues attached to him as well - this is the country we live in at the mo and these issues just seem to be part of the awful entrenched position that the country is in and btw a General Election is not gonna change that.

If we can't trust the BBC to report news which isn't biased, then who can we trust? I don't know if any of you have read 1984 but in 1984 the character Winston Smith works as a clerk in the records department of the ministry of truth where his job is to rewrite historical documents and history books so they fit the current party line. Also they had Newspeak where they had to dumb down and cut out vocabulary and eliminate many words in the English language because a higher range of vocabulary demonstrates higher intelligence.

Now we have the latest episode re the Tories altering the "front end" of their Twitter page to a disguised Factcheck UK - that really "takes the biscuit" and then being rebuked and warned by Twitter officials for deceiving the public - reminds me of elements of deception and techniques used in George Orwell's 1984 novel. What was even more damning was the shameless defence of this embarrassing discovery that was put up by Tories like Cleverley and Raab who were so unconvincing and stony-faced - Tory bastards at work again eh!!! Thumb down

The Tory Home Secretary, Priti Patel, now professing that previous Tory governance played no part in making lotsa people poor lol Laugh She now finds that she is rightly the subject of utter ridicule and deserving of such treatment following such shameless comments. I'm getting more and more intrigued to see if an English population will actually vote in these Tory morons, many of whom have so much shit attached to them - their opponents should be "shooting them down in flames"!!!!

This is getting really worrying now. The Tories have doctored an interview from 3rd October with Jess Phillips talking about manifestos and the Tories are trying to say that it was done today. They've also gone and created a website called https://www.labourmanifesto.co.uk/# and they have gone top of the search list on Google to sort of pretend that they are the Labour party and that's the website to read the Labour manifesto.

Matt's right.

The brixiteers need to wise up now, and try and save what's left of their communities...only labour can do that.

Patel is such a shining face of the English government .....
