It has now been confirmed that the Baggies will re-sign Gareth Barry once he returns to full fitness.
The 38-year-old provides invaluable experience to the squad, and is a natural leader and motivator in the dressing room.

I’m ok with this. Yes he’s 38 but his experience is invaluable and will go a long way with our younger players that we now have in the squad. He also offers us experienced cover behind Sawyers, Livermore, Harper and Brunt.
With Slaven playing 4231, Barry might only play 10 matches this season because it’s 2 out of 4 currently in the middle, and 2 out of 5 once Barry signs, but it’ll be worth it in my opinion because all it takes is 1 injury to Livermore or Sawyers and we’re stuck.
If all goes well, Field will have a good season with Charlton and will return next summer to replace Brunt in the squad, with Brunt becoming the player that Barry will be this season and Barry becoming part of the coaching staff.
