Franny Firth has died aged 61. He was a member of our youth team that reached the 1974 FA Youth Cup final. Then progressed to the first team making 30 appearances before breaking his leg.
I remember him as a classy winger who but for the injury would've gone on to bigger and better things, but ended up at the Shay.

RIP

Agree with that assessment of Franny Firth 100% Snoots Thumb up.

Heck, I'm 59 and just over an 'alf. Too many lads of my age that I was watching on the telly or the pitch at Leeds Road just after I left school are keeling over before they've drawn their pensions. All going far too early and Franny is no exception.

Yes, it's very sad and a little chilling to see the lads you saw on the pitch passing away far too early. They're always fixed in your mind as young athletes. Was at White Hart Lane for the first leg of the Youth Cup Final. So proud of the 1-1 draw and Firth and Bob Newton really impressed. RIP Franny.

Junior's out tonight in East London, with his best mate and his best mates little brother, who happens to be in the Leeds Utd U23's. Have challenged him to casually mention Town at least 10 times!  Big Grin

I watched the History of Football on the History Channel this morning.
Rubbish!
It went straight from World War 1 to Herbert Chapman's Arsenal. No mention at all of Herbert Chapman's Huddersfield Town.
