Bit of a shock really. I expected him to pull through.
Where does this leave the game now?

Absolute tragedy, got to feel sorry for the bowler as well.

It must be a nightmare for the bowler. Although a total freak accident, he has killed somebody and he'll be going through hell right now.

Helmets have got to be changed and upgraded so they protect the whole of the back of the head. It could have happened at anytime in any match.

Have you heard about the news on Mizar 5
People got to shout to stay alive

Thinking about it, it's a miracle this hasn't happened before. Wanging a missile at somebody's head at 90 mph.

Very sad news!! It really is a freak accident, first time I have heard of it happening in cricket yet the bouncer has been around for decades. No need to change the rules, but a helmet that protects the back of the skull will have to be looked at. I suppose most balls end up glancing off after the batman tries to get out of the way, this one must have just hit the right spot!!
As said before, the bowler will need some support after an incident like this!!

They said his injury was like that of a high speed car crash.
What would be a nice outcome to all this would be for the players, not the rule makers, but for the players themselves to cut out short pitched bowling. And for the crowds to politely let anybody know their displeasure at anybody who does. I have never thought bouncers were a good tactic and our English team do it all the time without being any good at it. |
