Our biggest issue last year were lack of goals and lack of drive, with the changes of players so far neither of these problems have been addressed. Darren has missed his chance i'm afraid. The idea that Darren needs to sell off unmotivated players clearly shows he is lacking within that area. We are in big trouble. Talk of Rondon leaving is great news - lets get rid of our top scorer and keep and play HRK utter madness. As Darren has not shown if or what restrictions he is working under, I am holding him totally responsible. As he should be.

Phil, BD proved in his 6 games in charge last year that he CAN motivate and unite; I would imagine that THAT strength played a big part in him getting the job.

It's also extremely unlikely that a person new into a HC position is going to come out and complain about any constraints he may be under.

Finally, Rondon leaving..... personally I hope he stays, and I think he will if we don't have a replacement - be that Gayle, or anyone else - lined up. Surely that's what most thinking is, too?

I certainly don't believe "we are in big trouble" at all - we need the team to settle and the style of our new coaching team to become embedded before we can expect to have a true sight of what this season will hold.
We're only 3 points from the top of the table!

Why I do like Gayle we need a big bruiser up front. Someone who can out strength defenders and hold the ball up for our Midfielders to get forward. RONDON is that player.

I’m sure Rondon and Gayle will get goals in this league but Rondon has more presence unless we get Gayle and maybe Connor Wickham from Palace.

I thought Big Dave got it all wrong yesterday. He changed the formation from the friendlies, only made one substitution and started with HRK and Rodriguez up front. Surely Burke and JayRod would have been better?

No drive from midfield ala Jimmy Morrison. JayRod was in midfield more than attack, Johnston never came off his line, no communication between Hegazi and Bartley, Nyom to slow in crossing the ball when he had the chance. Livermore although busy was totally inaffective. Brunty back to the standard of when he was last captain kept throwing his arms up in the air when HE made a bad pass.

The only player who stood out was Harvey Barnes, head and shoulders above the others.

Tactics and team selection was wrong, lack of substitutions in that heat was unforgivable.

Anyway it’s the first game but I was expecting a statement to be made yesterday but we were like a church mouse. No tempo, no drive, not much to shout about.

Play like that in the week and Forest will smash us.

I’m very disappointed but remain hopeful we’ll get it right but we need to ship out the likes of Chadli and Dawson who obviously don’t want to be here. Maybe Rondon and JayRod will go but we need quality replacements otherwise we will be in trouble.

And that embarrassing white box running around the pitch....... WTF

Very underwhelming yesterday.

Looks accurate - another nail in the coffin.
Darren, my faith in him drops every day. He really should be keeping Rondon.

Blimey Phil Penn, you're very much a "half empty" man, I'll save my depression for if and when we're near the bottom after a dozen games with barely a point on the board. Until then I don't get the defeatist talk where whatever happens, whoever signs and whoever leaves is met with moan after moan.

Rondon and whoever else wants to go, can, what's the point in keeping somebody who doesn't want to play for us and sulks and unsettles the others, we've been there before remember Sad

I think I`m with Phil. All I can see is asset stripping and visions of the Bhatti brothers. What ever happened to "Get the buisiness done early, don`t need to sell and hit the ground running"??
I fear a long hard slog and no reward at the end of it.
Free transfers and over priced reject mecenarys will not do the job required.

The Dingles are pissing theirselves at our expense.

Have updated in advance the Rondon / Gayle loan exchange.

BD is doing fine so far - we have players that really do not want to play for us (career, money etc). We need people that want to play for Albion and if that is a few relatively unknown players, so be it. At the end of the season they could be hero's and valued considerably higher.

We always pride ourselves when players are bought for small sums and them sold on a few years later for huge amounts, so why not again.

Rondon has not proven himself in the Premier League.
Gayle is a proven goal scorer in the Championship.

Seems to me we get the best out of the exchange and so I am happy to see Rondon move on. He is a great guy, he worked super hard but got very little results.

Hopefully we will buy another striker, but this particular exchange works for me.
