As suspected, we'll have to wait another few years for a first Ashes Test at the Optus Stadium, as the quarantine rules in Western Australia have forced the match elsewhere. Current options on the table are a return to Melbourne for the final Test, Sydney doubling up to host the last two back-to-back, or an inaugural Ashes match for the Manuka Oval in Canberra or the Bellerive Oval/Blundstone Arena in Hobart.
Cricket Australia will probably go for the "ker-ching" option of the MCG or SCG with their enormous capacity, which is a shame as Hobart does have a lovely ground, and it would have been a nice bit of history to take the Ashes to Tasmania for the first time.
