RE: Ashes Tour - jjamez - 11-10-2021 Can't say I'm surprised by any of the selections here, but can say I'm a little disappointed and would have gone with a few others in the touring party. There's still a lion's squad to be named and I believe that they are going to be touring fairly close to main squad, so there's nothing in theory stopping another player being added to the main squad a few days before a test match RE: The Ashes 2021-22 - England in Australia - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 30-11-2021 December

What have they go tleft now apart from Netball and Darts? Don't know why we bother with it, they're losing more sports than the BBC. RE: The Ashes 2021-22 - England in Australia - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 30-11-2021 Pretty sure BT had the Ashes last time Down Under, too. They've had a good working relationship with Cricket Australia for years, broadcasting the men's internationals every winter, and I guess Sky aren't interested in buying that kind of package deal (i.e. showing Aussie cricket each year) just so they can have the Ashes once every four years. RE: The Ashes 2021-22 - England in Australia - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 06-12-2021 As suspected, we'll have to wait another few years for a first Ashes Test at the Optus Stadium, as the quarantine rules in Western Australia have forced the match elsewhere. Current options on the table are a return to Melbourne for the final Test, Sydney doubling up to host the last two back-to-back, or an inaugural Ashes match for the Manuka Oval in Canberra or the Bellerive Oval/Blundstone Arena in Hobart. Cricket Australia will probably go for the "ker-ching" option of the MCG or SCG with their enormous capacity, which is a shame as Hobart does have a lovely ground, and it would have been a nice bit of history to take the Ashes to Tasmania for the first time. RE: The Ashes 2021-22 - England in Australia - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 07-12-2021 Twelve-man squad for the first Test: Root, Broad, Burns, Buttler, Hameed, Leach, Malan, Pope, Robinson, Stokes, Woakes, Wood. Jimmy Anderson rested. With rain forecast to some extent on all five days in Brisbane, we'll hopefully see something a bit different from the last couple of tours. England historically perform well during La NiƱa summers in Australia. RE: The Ashes 2021-22 - England in Australia - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 08-12-2021 England win the toss at the Gabba and will bat first. Aaaaaaand Rory Burns is bowled round his legs off the very first ball. Farewell my carefully-nurtured optimism Malan edges to slip. 11-2. Think I can hear my bed calling. Root edges to slip for a duck. 11-3. That's definitely me up the wooden hill to Bedfordshire. RE: The Ashes 2021-22 - England in Australia - St Charles Owl - 08-12-2021 Oh dear, nightmare start for England!! Going to take 3 or 4 heroes from the middle/lower order to save this!!! |
