Good God!!! I do hope this is not going to be a regular rant from our new manager, who actually got the job 'cause he stood out from the crowd. And not because he is black. I am no racist, and anybody who accuses me of being so, will get a hefty clip around their ear'ole, regardless of whether they are black, white, orange or even bloody mauve!!! Of coarse there will be some racism in football, as there is in every other walk of life, but please come up with a far more concise list of black managerial candidates who would stand out from the rest, to highlight the issue. The names mentioned in the article, apart from Houghton, who I would imagine we also considered, would not reach the interview room door for me. And that would not be because they were black either. Think I'll apply for the next managerial position that becomes available. And when I don't get it, which I wouldn't, I'll claim "Short Fat Hairy Arse ism". Though I suppose that wouldn't be a small enough minority! Rant well and truly over!
