Its a touch hostile calling the surface "unforgiving", it makes it sound like players are stretchered off there on a regular basis...which they aren't as far as I know.

It isn't in the slightest way - not even in the most twisted and deluded mind - 'hostile' at all.

Jesus, even taking it out of context (it was meant originally in reference to the lack of 'give' in the pitch) completely doesn't render it as anything close to 'hostile'.
