I think the simplest description of this scenario is "living beyond their means" and trying to keep up with a far richer club like Celtic.

I assume that when Rangers came back from liquidation all their debts were wiped out and certainly revenue dropped while they rose through the leagues but once they were back challenging Celtic they would have been on a somewhat level footing income wise, so why are they always in trouble?  Is it down purely to bad financial management and overspending or is it something else?

Ever since Fergus Mccann Celtic have demonstrably been a bigger club than rangers, they have better commercial deals, more high profile sponsors, a bigger stadium, bigger transfer sales, they also have a far bigger worldwide profile via the irish diaspora. Rangers probably have more fans in the UK and northern Ireland but thats about it.

Theres a gap that started to appear and Murray knew it and used illegal methods to keep them ahead with the tacit approval of the SFA (who were well aware they were breaking UEFA licensing laws) with the nod and a wink, imperfectly registered but eligible, no sporting advantage garbage being used by the funny handshake brigade that permeate the SFA and Scottish society. Then of course the failed switcheroo with Craig Whyte which left them open to every vulture out there like Ashley and Green who filled their boots accordingly.

Celtic are now posting record revenue figures, and with champions league money coming up they have a great chance to widen the gap even further. Their opponents on the other hand have been hampered by poor choices on and off the field, not to mention appalling financial losses just about every year in a decade.

Scottish football is shite, with shite crowds and a shite rivalry at the top of its heap that eclipses anything else. All that matters is the CL money really. To date the huns have tried to attain it via pumping private money in via confetti share issues because as 0762 points out they can't get ahead of Celtic by living within their means. So its a jam tomorrow, and kick everything into the long grass type strategy for years thats prevailed. Not helped by the fact they have people of the calibre of King making decisions, resulting in every retail deal ending up in court.

The other problem the rangers have is they have to fund a squad revamp at a time when they may well be forced to live within their means.

And how the hell do you "come back" from liquidation anyway SCO ? Laugh That will be you an "enemy of the club" now.

Beale is a mouthy, ignorant wee twat thats for sure, when he said there were 2 good teams in the league i assume one of them must have been Aberdeen ?
Like i said - if he doesn't win that cup game next week there is going to be a meltdown.

Goldson is their best player and when he returned from injury Beale got results. I don't think he's better than GVB, just he's mates with a lot of the players that fell out with Gio.

The same problem still exists - they have a whole load of players ready to leave, most of them have downed tools and the hun support expect EBT level replacements.

Park and co don't want to be around when the support realise the truth. They might win the odd trophy or old firm game but they are going to be 2nd best for the foreseeable.

These Huns can't can't get their heads around the fact they are not as good as they think they are and their aspirations to excel are absolutely unrealistic when one considers their circumstances, financial and player resource, as previously described in other threads.

I'm struggling to think of any of their players that would command a big fee, they've spunked the windfall money they got from selling Bassey and Aribo (they literally robbed Ajax with Bassey) they have several major court cases on the rolls and their main boardroom figures have all resigned. They need constant share deals and hand outs to keep the lights on. It's just mental how badly they have been run.

Beale isn't a big name, he's an inexperienced manager, he can't make huge demands transfers wise. This should mark the point where they knuckle down, live within their means and let him build a team.

Just seen Goldson got away with another blatant assault/ red card/PK yesterday Laugh Laugh Absolutely incredible. Robson was rightly incredulous that VAR did not intervene.

Followed up by his managers verbal assault on el fattalo at full time - I mean, its you thats been picking him to play Michael!!! He is one of those guys who just opens his mouth and lets his belly rumble. An absolute ersepiece.

Re that Goldson incident, I've honestly given up all hope re the proper objective refereeing promise eventually unfolding after the VAR intro - preached by the SFA, but time n time again we are watching blatantly biased refereeing like this one and the ref stats don't lie and the number of damning incidents are stacking up - too many decisions favouring this footie club (very little favour given to their opponents!) and it still continues even with VAR in place. Do we need a national Scot footie fans' petition to force it upon the SFA to tackle and stop this unacceptably disproportionate level of refereeing favouring this particular footie club?????? The Euro/UEFA footie ref stats really show it up for what it is (their refs are not biased and are not intimidated - generally impartial apply the rules/laws of the game as instructed) and it is high time the SFA tried to redress this problem once and for all.

LOL LMAO.

So now you see the inevitability of Beales rebuild, - 20 million spunked on players who you certainly wouldn't want in the trenches with you. I've seen wardrobes mair mobile than Dessers, Simo actually makes Sakala look like Maradona and the other Norwich boy is a clear downgrade on Arfield. Lammers has driven fans of mair than one club bonkers over the years when he's not on the treatment table.... They seem to have spent everything on middle to front as well which seems bizarre because at the back Souttar and Balogun are both made of glass.

It was also hard to see what tactics were employed other than lump it up the park to the big units who then hit the turf looking for fouls. And they wonder why nothing is changing ? End of the day Kilmarnock looked better than them and deserved to win.

Beale gave it large about how only the games with celtic mattered disrespecting the rest of the league into the process not to mention the disgraceful way he treated Van Bronkhurst - I'm really looking forward to the cockney blowhard getting dismantled this season.

THUMPPPPPPP!!!! The Huns "brought down down to earth" big time!! A huge reality check on all their questionable pre-season optimism that was being uttered.
