Even prior to this he's been caught out lying about substantive issues that go far beyond just not remembering something or remembering something incorrectly. When you have a president who talks openly about just "grabbing women by the pussy" is it really such a surprise that his friends are a bit rapey ?
He lied under oath about something he'd just done knowing that people including reporters had sat and watched him watching the testimony. That's stupid to a degree that's hard to fully comprehend, that's Trump levels of stupid mendacity.
At the end of the day all we really get thats new from this is that he's a mean drunk,a liar, possibly a bit rapey and most certainly emotionally unstable.

Putting Trumps little outburst yesterday for one side, the one thing that bothers me about this is that the Democrats have to a degree botched this whole saga. They held onto knowing about her until the last minute, making it look like grandstanding rather than any real concern for the victim. Her story is also full of holes and in reality if she had taken this to the police the day after the offence its unlikely any charges would have been forthcoming, and there is certainly little evidence 36 years later. Its a he said, she said case and they hardly ever reach an arrest as there really is no evidence to work with. I have no reason to believe she wasn’t assaulted, and she certainly displays some of the traits that some one who was abused tend to have, but there is no evidence yet that it was him.
Kavanaugh is a poor choice for the SC but this whole episode is making it more likely he will be confirmed unless one or two Republicans step up to the plate and vote no like their conscience is telling them, but I have no faith in that happening. The Democrats are simply playing delaying tactics, but they have forgotten what their role was during this confirmation, they needed to be asking the tough questions of him well before this accusation was made and exposing him as not being suitable. Delaying the accusation being made public for weeks was a mistake, it played into the hands of the Trumpettes as we are now seeing and it left Ford wide open to essentially become a victim again for what i fear is no real gain. The Dems need to stop criticizing Trump for what he says, but focus on what he actually does and what they would do differently, his supporters love him, they will not believe anything the Dems say so its time to ignore them and talk to the rest of the US to give them a reason first to vote and then to vote for the Dems!!

I thought Kavanaugh was evasive when he sat before the Senate committee and he also came out with some partisan comments - proved to be definitely unsuitable as a SC judge and should not be anywhere near this position.

Brett Kavanaugh has been confirmed to the Supreme Court with a 50-48 vote.
The U.S. deserves a Justice with better termperament and less partisanship than Kavanaugh but it is what it is.

It's just another sad moment in US political history and there will be millions of American citizens who are absolutely perplexed by this decision even although it was generally expected to come out this way. As said in a previous thread, the idiots have taken over the political forum and it just seems to carry on in this crazy world that we live in (not just in the US btw) at the moment - absolutely frustrating!!

I see Trump is jumping up & down all excited about the appointment . This guy just doesn't know how to take a backseat or when to shutup .

I think the "trumpet man" will lose his battle against the American constitution and I look forward to the day when he ultimately "falls on his sword" just like Nixon did under slightly different circumstances. I've conceded to the fact that populism and populist parties (not just in the US) have "filled a vacuum" created by failed political and economic policies. IMO people have never learned from past "black periods" (eg the 1930s) when these kinda "RW suspects" have "crawled out the woodwork" and peddled their shamelss "simple solutions" and false promises to an unsuspecting public, many of whom were quite happy to "jump" on a "bandwagon of hate". Deja vu!
