Ha ha ha! That is a bril SNL sketch Josh! God bless those white supremists lol! They should make this mandarory viewing to all Americans nationwide!! It's high time a huge proportion of the US populace started "waking up" to this political phobia creation and how Trump thinks that he will win votes and continue on his merry way, unchallenged by "sane and savvy" Americans.

Trump's latest campaign ploy re "big bad immigration and the huge threat to the American nation" really is straight out any demagogue's political handbook and it is sickening to listen to this shit and realise that it is likely that a huge swathe of American voters in these mid-term elections are gonna be duped again to possibly "swing it" in Trump's favour. This will present a huge tragedy and a massive failure on the part of the Democrats if my worst fears actually materialise - no hope for the future and just "throw in the towel"!!!

If they decide that the titular head of the nation can ignore the written constitution of the said nation and it's laws on a whim just to write his own rules on the fly prior to elections then the game is truly up the pole.

Of course re the constitutional issue don't forget that the USA is not a democracy, it is a republic that has democratic safeguards that prevent central govt imposing its will on any US state! I'll bet Trump would like to change that eh! Also the 1787 constitution (2nd) was framed by an oligarchy of slave-owning, land-owning farmers to protect their own property owning interests against landless and urban labourers. I'd say that emanated from a class war that was sparked by Shays' Rebellion in 1786 that compelled the ruling landed and merchant oligarchy to set up their centralist constitution to ensure central govt can put down any future rebellions of this kind. They also rigged the election process to ensure the ruling oligarchy could not be destabilised and ousted. How did they do it? By filtering the election of representatives through intermediate electoral colleges. This position still remains to this day and it ensured that Trump became US President in spite of Hilary Clinton winning by nearly 3 million votes. GW Bush similarly became a US President while his adversary, Al Gore, defeated him on the vote in the 2000 US election. What a joke! Conclusion: the economic elite still rule in the USA and the idea that Trump represents the white working class is a myth (the same myth as the idea that the American working class is right wing - utter tosh!) IMO propagated in the UK, most assiduously by the bbc and the London print media. Only a third of Trump voters in 2016 had an income below the US median of $50k!

There is quite a lot of talk amongst Democrats to revamp or replace the Electoral College but its not a priority or something that is likely to get enough support. It is a flawed system but until the last 20 years has pretty much worked. Now with the east and west coast being Democratic strongholds, and the fly-over states being mostly red, it means the large population centers are not getting the right number of EC votes compared to states like Montana.

Trump doesn’t represent anybody working class, black, white, Hispanic, male or female, but his core support base is predominantly white working class, these are the ones who put him in power and without them he is nothing. The BBC and London print media are correct in this point from what I have seen, the BBC in particular writes some excellent articles on the current situation in the US and rarely do I see them write something I wouldn’t broadly agree with.

I must also add that Trump has actually been good for the wealthy elite, no doubt, and cutely sends out this message that he is the "pal" of the people who he is actually screwing with impunity - that's the truth of his association with the people who he favours and his whole business persona and personal history endorse that fact! He never was one of them and any knowledgeable observer is well aware of what he is doing and, so far, "getting away" with this deception.

The R word "crops up" again, this time in the US MT elections! No surprise there but automated racist calls FFS!!??? What a country! There is so much to change radically re these kinda extreme issues but you don't need the Republicans or, Trump (both orchestrators of hate!) to do it!

Democrats take back control of the House of Representatives but lose seats in the Senate.

I’m looking forward to seeing what the Democrat controlled House is going to do in terms of Investigations. I think some people need to start lawyering up in preparation for subpoenas in the new year.

I'm a tad disappointed re the Democrats only winning the HOR and the American population not "coming to their senses" and delivering both "targets", the HOR and the Senate. But good to see a huge turn out of female voters. I thought Bernie Sanders post election speech was absolutely "spot on" re Trump's disguise and what this lunatic really represents. I just wish the Democrats somehow found their own "natural leader" for this volatile period in US politics. Good to see some form of opposition to Trump but not enough for me. I hope he is eventually impeached at some point as I perceive that Robert Mueller's position is less threatened because of this result.

That press conference...... What a horrible, troll bastard he is. Putin must be laughing his cock off.

Like you I am glad the Dems at least took control of the House, they really had no chance of taking the Senate though because not all the seats were up for re-election, only about half were being voted on and most of those that were not having votes were already Republican held. The real referendum on this President and Administration was the vote for the House, where every seat was up for grabs so it was essentially a clean slate, and the Democrats came away with a nice victory and a nice majority to finally be able to provide the checks and balances badly needed. Now they need to find a great leader to run against him 2020, my early guess is Kamala Harris from CA, she is a strong, very educated woman of color with an Indian mother and Jamaican father, that should get Trump having to be very careful how he would treat her!!!!
