Game was postponed on there, nobody turned up!! Whistle

I thought that was on the whole a very solid performance!!! We looked completely untroubled at the back, with Lees having a great game and both backs doing very well both defensively and going forward. Zayette didn't do anything wrong either. Midfield did well as well but maybe didnt support the front two enough.

Its up front and in the final third where we are struggling!! We are struggling with crossing, both from open play and set pieces and not beating the first man enough!! The strikers will score, but they need better service and more support.

FRUSTRATING!!

Never seen a more one sided draw.

We did everything except score.  The service from the midfield has got to improve.  May and Nuhiu can't do it all on their own.  The back five were excellent again

2 points lost Angry

No winners for either the score/scorer or the other games predictions.

Did anyone have 1-0 May Angry

Just checked as I was thinking about giving a Smartass for 1-0 May until I saw who predicted it Whistle

You should give it to BigBucks as he predicted the score we should have had today!!! Angry

Quick ratings on the coach

Westwood 6 - Two very comfortable saves

Palmer 6 - Defended with ease and attacked with purpose but his crossing was awful.
Lees 8 - Signing of the season, nearly won it at the death.
Zayatte 8 - Impressed me again, no errors.
Mattock 8 - Our most improved player. Turning into a quality LB, should have scored when headed into the ground and over the bar.

Maguire 7 - Our most dangerous threat in the first half when linking with Palmer but his final ball and shooting was dire.
Semedo 8 - Never lost a challenge, 100% commitent and effort.
Coke 6 - Still not taking a grip on the game and driving us forward as he could/should. A couple of poor efforts at goal.
Maghoma 7 - Hit and miss as he always seems to be. Would like to see him play off the CF's

Nuhiu 8 - Excellent, the focal point of all our beat moves and chances. One decent effort well saved. Got to give him more service from out wide.
May 8 - Scored the winner (you wanker referee). Again, needs better service.

Drenthe looks a talent. As his fitness improves he'll be a real asset. SG did all he could, on another day the scoreline could have been 0-3. Perhaps he could have thrown another striker on for the last twenty but we had to be aware of the pace and power of Davies and Beckford on the break.

Our wide players have got to beat the full back and provide decent delivery. The front two are full of confidence and nearly created goals for themselves. Another clean sheet and a draw away is never a bad result. Just frustrating that it could so easily have been all 3.

Great support in the away end

WAWAW

Be interesting to here Madsteves view, wonder if he saw the game like Consilio.
Thought we cud have put a different striker on towards the end as Nuhiu & May werent having much luck.

RE: Match Thread - Bolton Wanderers - Thurnscoe_OWL - 13-09-2014

I'm glad SG has learnt his lesson by not taking Nuhiu off, everytime he does it we struggle to keep the ball up front and all of a sudden look to be on the back foot

Everything But The Goal

Actually that's not strictly true but pretty much true. We were unlucky when May had a goal disallowed (give the guy who went 1-0 May a Smartass ) but generally we were wasteful with our chances. The creation wasn't brilliant but we must have had upward of 20 attempts at goal. May was unlucky, Maguire & Lees had efforts cleared off the line but Nuhui wouldn't have scored if he played all night & everyone else had gone home.

There are still plenty of positives. The defence looked as solid as a rock, restricting Bolton to one effort on target & that was straight down Westwoods's throat. We passed the ball sweetly & crisply & movement was good. Just when it looked like we might be running out of ideas, Drenthe came on & caused panic in the Bolton defence. He might have been guilty of a poor miss but there are signs that he can add something in creativity.

Westwood - 6 - just a few catches
Palmer - 7 - solid if unspectacular
Zayatte - 8 - great comeback
Lees - 8 - so assured & nearly scored
Mattock - 7 - another good performance, missed a chance in first half
Maguire - 6 - should have scored when shot cleared off line
Semedo - 7 - did the dirty work well
Coke - 6 - hardly noticed, one good shot
Maghoma - 7 - lively, always found space
Nuhui - 5 - movement poor today but game not suited to him today
May - 6 - lively, goal disallowed, but missed a couple of half chances
.....................................................
Drenthe - 6 - missed best chance at death but the threat is there

The shallowness of our squad was exposed as we only really had Drenthe to bring on to get a goal. As his fitness improves, we could have a player to strike fear into defenders hearts. He made a few poor choices today & should have buried the chance that fell perfectly for him.

I feel that is two points thrown away but if we win against Brum & Reading we will be firmly placed in the to half by the end of the month.

Not sure how u can judge a player on a 25 minute appearance, think I will judge after 7-8 games at least, when he has got his match fitness.
