So Trump's Chief Strategist, Steve Bannon, is ushered out the White House door!!! Who's next and gradually this US president is becoming a 'lonely figure' and no wonder!

America doesn't need to be "great" again. That the biggest lie that orange faced, snake oil salesman is selling, America IS great. Its him that's making it not great,by believing or at least endorsing the idea that anti-fascism or anti-racism is another side of the coin from fascism and racism. It's a stunning new low for the US and modern democracy

What policies?? He has yet to really lay out any policies and what he has tried to do such as healthcare reform has failed. Trump might well be a fascist/racist but most of the policies he talks about changing or implementing are right out of the republican handbook. He really has no far right policies, but he does have a ton of far right rhetoric, and that is what is bogging him down currently.

As regards making America great again, you are right, its not needed. The military in particular have been annoyed with this especially when he would talk about how poor they have become, this is hy so far the military have not sided with him on a number of things.

Trump is not the effective leader of the USA that many Americans thought he might be and is 'not doing the job' - I think most straight thinking yanks realise that now and many who 'gave him the benefit of the doubt' have now abandoned him. As said on this board a long time ago - he doesn't have the 'tools' to do the job and he's not bright enough either - he's played a significant but ineffective role during a very embarrassing period in American political history and the sooner it disappears, the better in the quest to move on positively if that is indeed possible in a country that is not 'at ease' with itself!

Policies like banning muslims from entering the US. Those kind of policies.... far right policies.

Had it actually been a ban on all Muslims then I might agree but that is a Republican policy in the wake of terrorist attacks and trump wasn't the only candidate calling for that. It ended up being watered down by the courts and in reality probably means little to the countries affected by it because those with visas and the requisite background checks are still being admitted.

The far right have certainly been given their voice by Trump but they are currently being drowned out by the rest at the moment and long may that continue. A far right rally in Boston by a few hundred has been met by an opposing rally numbering a few thousand, we will continue to see that. The vast majority of americans are not right wing supremacists, there are enough of them to keep challenging them thats for sure, but this wasn't the group that voted Trump in and they continue to be too small to be relevant at the ballot box but must remain being challenged by civilized society at every opportunity.

RE: Trump Watch activated! - hibeejim21 - 19-08-2017

It was a discriminatory policy against muslims including nations who had done nothing to the USA. Thats why it got watered down.

There is a reason why the KKK and white supremacists support trump and have become more prominent of late, and its entirely down to the presidents actions regardless of who is drowning them out. The rush to "moral equivalency" really isn't a smart look for Trump. But not much is smart about trump.

RE: Trump Watch activated! - 0762 - 22-09-2017

He's a totally mad c###. Even St Charles Owl wouldn't quibble over that negative summary of this arrogant sod who is guising as a US president! It's the consequent damage that could well be inflicted by his political inability to deal with intractable situations/crises that concerns me.

RE: Trump Watch activated! - St Charles Owl - 22-09-2017

When have I ever quibbled about this man's lack of any sort of attributes that the President needs??? He is a joke and unfortunately I have to live here while he is embarrassing the office!! Thankfully so far he has been completely unable to pass any meaningful laws, his executive order while doing damage on some levels can all be undone in one afternoon and his tweets have zero basis in law!! But we are only 10 months into the 4 years so there is still time for him to do something really stupid!
