Rotherham Utd 1-1 Huddersfield Town

This is our first visit to the New York stadium since Valentine's Day 2017. On that occasion we won 3-2.
We have played once in the EFL cup since then in a home tie that saw us win 2-1.
In fact, head to head stats do favour us.

Newly promoted Rotherham Utd came up as runners-up in League One.

They had a good start with a win over Wycombe Wanderers who were promoted at the same time via the play-offs. But you may say who hasn't beaten Wycombe? That's true, the poor sods haven't had the best start. They are clearly missing Akinfenwa. However, perhaps it was a good win given that it was the first time since 2007. They were winless against them in 6 games in league 2 and league 1. You have to go back to 2001 for their last win over them. Since that opening game it's been one loss to Millwall and a draw with Birmingham. All this gives them 4 points and 14th place.

Us, on the other hand, began with losses to Norwich and Brentford but a win over Forest on Friday has brought much relief even if it was only 1-0. The precious 3 points gained see us in 17th place.

I know top scorers don't really mean much at this stage. Not for us anyway.  Doh  But here goes with Rotherham's:

You will notice a certain Matt Crooks in the mix there. He was, of course, one of our young lads.

And ours:

I know I didn't need a table for that before anyone says so  Tongue but it does give the thread aesthetic appeal.  Smartass

The Millers' last line up v Brum:

Sadlier was the scorer from a penalty in the 87th minute, having replaced Miller in the 69th minute. The final score was 1-1 after Brum were awarded a penalty themselves in the 90th minute.

Played for both:

Danny Ward who left us in 2015 to go on loan to Rotherham and made it permanent the same year. He left them after 2 seasons to sign for Cardiff. He resigned for us this year.

Matt Crooks was with the Town academy and only made one senior appearance for us. He left us to go on loan to Halifax in 2012. He had three more loan spells before signing for Accrington in 2015. The year after he signed for Rangers who sent him on loan to Scunthorpe in 2017. From there he signed for Northampton and stayed until 2019 when he joined Rotherham. A bit of a journeyman?

Alan Lee was at Rotherham 2000-2003. He had a very respectable 111 appearances and 37 goals. He joined us in 2010 and was good for getting in amongst defenders and known to be good for morale in the team. He left us to go back to Ipswich in 2013. He had to retire in 2014 due to a dodgy knee. His goal for Ipswich v Leeds ensured their relegation from the Championship. This forever guarantees his legend status at Town. Leeds' fans behaviour afterwards also explains why their fans are not the best and do not deserve to be in the premiership despite what the clueless pundits keep saying.

John Dungworth started his senior career at Huddersfield in 1972 until 1975 (last year on loan with Barnsley) and finished at Rotherham from 1984-1988. He has been back to Town as first team reserve coach. He was the one who took over from Terry Yorath when he had to depart due to ill health. He left in 2008.

What the managers have to say:

Talking of Paul Warne, can you believe that he's been manager since 2016?!
I would have said, if asked, Steve Evans was there until a couple of years ago!

Nice one, Chaffers. Very aesthetically pleasing. Smile

Hope it's as good a game as that Valentines match. 1-2 down to win 3-2. Tommy Smith late winner. Thumb up

From powerpoint, jj. I just mess about with it because I've never had training. However, I noticed for the first time there are design suggestions on the right hand side after uploading the 4 photos. I was just going to position them together like I normally do but then I looked at the suggestions. I think they're used for slideshows normally.

I think you can probably change the background colour but I haven't worked that out yet.

Do you know how you can stop it putting the red squiggly line under a suggested spelling mistake?

I suppose right click and press add to dictionary might do it

Click on it AmChaff - or right click on it. It gives you several options of accepting your spelling , theirs or otherwise. Most of the time it defaults to Yankee spelling - I could make a few quid showing oldies (and a lot of not so oldies) how to change this stuff. Trouble is I'd need to go to every one of them to show them how to log in to something like Microsoft Teams or Skype before I could get the old buggers on line to do the rest of the stuff.

Getting them to pay for it? ???????????

I know its only the fourth game of the season and its a tad dramatic but this really is a must win game, its also a massive indicator of where the club is right now IMO

I would class this game as a must not lose game. Not so much a must win game.
All away games in Championship I would take a point from. So long as we keep getting home wins.
Lose this and it is troubling.

They are still riding the promotion wave/bubble/whatever, however getting the monkey off our backs last week will hopefully spread renewed confidence in the camp. I'll take another point and a few goals right now if offered.
