An impressive performance by Hull in the capital against much fancied Fulham, make no mistake thoroughly deserved win. Busman's holiday for yours truly, thanks to Sky's changing North End's game to a Sunday dinner time kick off and Branson's inability to offer refunds on advanced tickets off to Fulham I went.
Plenty of North Enders on the train some going to Barnet and others on over night stays in the capital, give you a tip if you travel first class get into the first class lounge at Euston and savour the free cookies they have so much sugar in them they are an absolute delight.
The usual walk up to Kings Cross, then the Tube to Hammersmith followed by 20 minute walk to the ground.
The Cottage is undeergoing redevelopment with the stand by the river being replaced, they are hoping to increase capacity to 30,000.
Got tickets for the Johnny Haynes stand, old fashioned wooden seats but did like the pictures of Haynes on either end of the ground.
As for the match City set up their stall to close down the home side it worked a treat, they were given an early warning when Grosicki's shot needed a good save from Bettinelli, but did not take long for them to take the lead ball in from the left Bowler headed it against early substitute Le Marchand ball rebounded to Bowler fired his shot past the keeper.
Fulham found some joy with Cavaleiro but the team seemed to want to score the perfect goal seemed a reluctance to shoot, when they did get the ball into the Hull box the two big lads at the back De Wijs and Burke ensured Mitrovic was given little chance of adding to his goal total.
City with the ever impressive Bowen always looked the more dangerous. Home fans less than impressed at half time.
Early substitution by Hull when Bowler was replaced by Eaves, who immediately went as lone striker with Bowen moving to the right flank, immediatly paid dividends as the striker got in unmarked in the box and fired past Bettinelli to double the lead.
Home side brought on Knockaert at half time fattered to deceive as did the home side, plenty of possession mainly sideways and backwards , when they did get into the box they were met with at least nine Hull players defending the goal in truth Long in the City goal hardly had a shot to save. The third put the seal on a fine away performance Bowen away yet again shot saved rebounded to Eaves who just about managed to poke the ball home.
No alarms for Hull as they took the points in a very good away performance.
Fulham manager Scott Parker said:
"Today is probably the one day I sit here this season disappointed by the way we played, disappointed with the result and the way things panned out.
"We weren't where we needed to be. We've had defeats this year but I felt we were flat today.
"Ultimately what will determine how successful I am personally and how successful this team is is going to be moments like this. Cliché that it is, you've got to bounce back."
Hull City manager Grant McCann told BBC Radio Humberside:
"It's a good result for us. We've come to one of the best teams in the league and controlled the game.
"We did our job to a man, defensively we were outstanding. When we broke we transitioned excellently and the three goals are different scorers.
"As a centre forward when you're judged on goals you just need them to go in and I'm delighted for Tom Eaves because he sprinted to get involved."
Back into town and had the joys of a loudmouth Northern base Brentford fan taking shite al the way up to Warrington, ears were bleeding by the time he got off did enjoy the fact that they had lost even more though.
