The Lotus Accumulator
(I’ve already contributed to our crowd funding, but I’ve decided I can afford to give it a bit more impetus. For everyone who joins the free-to- enter Lotus Accumulator for this season I’ll give £1 to the fund. I reckon I can handle up to 50 entries.)
So what’s The Lotus Accumulator? It’s just a prediction game, which will run throughout the season. I hope it will help bring Babblers from every team together and isn't intended as competition for any other Prediction/Fantasy Leagues. It will start on Friday 9th August. It will include all Premiership, EFL, National League (not North and South!) and Scottish League teams in matches played each weekend (defined as Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday) together with English FA Cup and Scottish Cup games).
The simple aim is to get seven predictions correct each week …… or as near to it as you can, but these predictions are very specific:-
Prediction One - Name a team that will win AT HOME.
Prediction Two – Name a team that will win AWAY.
Prediction Three – Name a team to win AT HOME by TWO clear goals.
Prediction Four – Name a team that will be involved in a GOALLESS DRAW.
Prediction Five – Name a player who will score a goal.
Prediction Six – Name a team that wins by exactly THREE clear goals.
Prediction Seven – Name a team that concedes FOUR goals or more.
POINTS ARE SCORED in this way:-
Points accumulate as follows:-
If you get Prediction One right but Prediction Two wrong – that’s ONE POINT
If you get One and Two right but Three wrong – that’s TWO POINTS
If you get One, Two and Three right, but Four wrong – SIX POINTS
If you get Predictions 1 – 4 correct, but Prediction Five wrong – it’s 24 POINTS
If you get Predictions 1 - 5 right and fail on the Prediction Six – 120 POINTS
If you succeed on Predictions 1-6 and fail on Prediction Seven – 720 POINTS
Get all seven RIGHT and the score is a massive – 5,040 POINTS
+ Additionally each individual prediction you get right will also score you ONE POINT as well – so if you get your first prediction wrong and all the others come up you will get the consolation of SIX POINTS.
Individual prediction scores will be added to accumulator scores so getting all seven actually gets you 5,040 + 7 = 5,047 points.
Clear? As mud? Put your predictions in order, each week. (If you choose an obscure goal scorer it will help if you mention the team he plays for!) If you forget to do it one week I’ll use your previous week’s selections – the potential weekly scores are so big no-one can ever be too far behind. I'll update a League Table every week.
