Australia the cheats?

In the 3rd test against south africa, cameron bancroft was caught on camera with a yellow item, closely ressembling a piece of sandpaper in his hand, whilst working on the ball.

there is then footage of the oz coach lehmann telling sub fielder handscomb about it being caught on camera, with handscomb then relaying the message to bancroft who subsequently hides the item in his crotch area. When the umpires ask him what is in his pockets, he brings out a sunglasses case, which looked empty strangely enough as he had no sunglasses on his head at the time...

the footage is pretty damning and has been condemned by the commentators both oz and saffers, with the belief that the match officials will be taking it further. the other thing being mentioned is that bancroft is a new player in the set up and thus would have most likely been asked to take the item by one of the more senior players or one of the coaches. it will be interesting to see what they say about the incident, probably something about bancroft not being that sort of guy etc

on skys coverage, nasser hussain has echoed statements that i have mention in the fact that the aussies come across as being very hypocritical on multiple topics.

they talk about there being a line that gets crossed but the line only ever crops up when they are on the receiving end. Warner was abused by a lone man in the crowd after getting out the other day, which lehmann has called a disgrace, yet the very same lehmann told the aussie crowd to abuse broad in a previous series down under and make him go home crying. the aussie fans are notorious for being abusive yet, touring teams are told to man up, yet as mentioned here, the aussies find it a disgrace. in the last ashes series also moeen ali was constantly getting racial abuse from the australian crowd, yet again it was laughed off as 'bants' by the australian set up and media.

then we look at the warner v de kock fraccas in the first test, again the aussies hand out abuse that can be quite personal as they did against england in the ashes, but when it turns against them they cry.

Faf du plessis in the last tour saffers had to oz was accused of ball tampering and the australian media made a witch hunt against him, the media also made it priority number to attack the english as soon as they got off the plane. when the boot is on the other foot, the australians will cry foul on the matter.

this tour has shown more than anything that the australian set up is full of bullies that will give torrents of abuse without it crossing the line that they have made, but when the tides turn, the line moves drastically in their favour. I fully expect to see steve smith coming out pleading innocence and saying they are the victim in the matter.

in all honesty i would want the icc to look into the whole matter big time as it is appearing that the aussies feel that they are judge and jury on all matters and they should be advised to wind their necks in on matters as their hollier than thou persona is constantly being found wanting and is going to go against them in the long run, as more and more teams will report them to the authorities much like they are now and ultimately they will find themselves being on the end of punishments like they are wanting dished out against other nations

It might be argued elsewhere that some Australians are direct descendants of convicted cheats and that consequently this kind of behaviour is to be expected. Of course, I couldn't pass judgement on this claim, but as jjamez says, they do have previous form.

The worst part of this is Bancroft saying “ I was in the wrong place at the wrong time”, so its not that what he did was wrong, its that he got caught!!! No remorse whatsoever for blatantly cheating.

Which, SCO, when I've listened to the press conference appears to be something very run of the mill for Steve Smith and getting the young one to do it.

Minimum two year ban for all involved. This is as bad as drug cheating.

And there's footage emerged of him secreting something in his pocket during the Ashes.
