Celtic's financial position very healthy indeed!

Announced in the club's annual interim report that Celtic's revenue intake is up by 17% to £71.5M - ended 2017 with £30M in net cash, up 66% from £18.6M in the previous year - all is 'rosy in the Celtic garden' and the only way is up as most other Scottish clubs struggle to make ends meet with all sorts of short-term loan arrangements etc.

That revenue figure is probably not far off the total of the rest of the teams combined in the division!! Obviously its inflated due to CL group stages achievement but this sort of disparity means they would really have to screw things up royally to not keep winning most of the trophies on offer in Scottish football!!! Great for them but not so good for the rest.

What stood out was that they have over 30 mill in the bank minus the van dijk fee at this stage of the season. Sevco meanwhile are pawning their car park for a 3 mill overdraft from close brothers. Thats the gulf right there in an nutshell.

Its very hard for clubs with lesser turnover to beat the bigger ones now. Rangers desperation to stay ahead of celtic even by illegal methods killed them in the end, at the worst possible time in history.

You have to give celtic credit, after nearly going bust themselves they gradually built their resources year by year before bosman kicked in and now they have virtually a monopoly in scottish fitba. They have a very high calibre of person inside their boardroom too, and their model is just light years ahead in a domestic context.

They are one of the best run clubs in europe, and if they were in one of the stronger leagues they could even be a major force in europe too.

Don't forget a great deal of credit must be given to Fergus McCann who is still the subject of criticism from certain Celtic sources but this man basically 'did an effective recovery job' and then 'walked away', job done.

Yup. He was upfront from the off.

He was going to clear the debt (sparing them a sevco like humiliation) brought in proper professionals to the boardroom and rebuilt the stadium.... but when he sold up he was always going to make a healthy profit. It just shows you how 'out there' some of their fans are criticising him, he absolutely saved their arses.

It could very easily have been a craig whyte type vulture capitalist instead.
