RBS Six Nations Championship 2017 - Better fortunes for Scotland?
#1
Could it indeed be different for Scotland this time around against one of the on form teams in world rugby? We have our 1st match at home v Ireland and this game definitely won't be easy at a jam-packed Murrayfield Stadium. There is some promising form attached to Scotland and Cotter has ensured that the best Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh players are predominantly bolstering the Scotland squad. We've seen Scotland falter for years but last time around the boys won two SN matches. A minimum of three match wins would be good against some difficult opponents! C'mon Scotland!

A brilliant start for Scotland today. We had to hang on a bit in the second half, but some great tackling and a vital interception made sure that the Scottish aggression and self-belief rattled the Irish into some basic errors. Let's hope for another great performance next weekend in Paris.

The last 5 mins in holding on to that narrow lead, the boys were gritty, controlled and determined with Laidlaw well focused on 'calling the shots' and keeping possession of the ball close to the Irish try line! Great stuff and a rare 1st win for Scotland! Thumb up

Nice start for England as well (well from my perspective anyway!!), didn't see the game but by all accounts France were probably hard done to.

Scotland did great,we lost control of the game in the 2nd half but stayed close enough to win when our chance came along.

IMO a changed but improved Ireland side can only get better in their games. Jackson looks like a new, young prospect with a great future ahead of him - very impressive!

Scotland travel to the Parc de Princes in buoyant mood and must have a decent chance of getting a result after France conceded defeat to an under par Engerland team after taking the lead and the initiative away from the home team at Twickenham. C'mon Scotland!

France 21 Scotland 16 and this was a very good match to watch but bizarrely the most brutal I've seen for a long time in terms of injuries to Scottish and French players. The early loss of Gregg Laidlaw to an ankle injury was hugely disappointing but the continual loss of good players was becoming totally disruptive to the Scottish 'cause' - only so much that a team squad can endure!!! Rolleyes Scotland's scrummaging frailty exposed by the French and the absent JP Nell sorely missed!

No prisoners taken by either team, 0762. France probably deserved to win because they looked more dangerous in attack, helped by a dominant scrum - a sure way of getting penalties. It was still a really gritty performance by Scotland, giving hope for the next game against Wales, surely another war of attrition.

Also that bizarre missed pen by Finn Russell right in front of the French could well have made a difference on the final score - I blame that rushing ref for that incident in distracting our kicker as the ball was not properly teed up!! He should have ignored that pernickety ref and prepared properly to finally take a proper kick conversion!
