Celtic hit the jackpot? Dembele a £40M player?
#1
The rumours abound re Dembele being a massive signing target ever since Real Madrid's manager, Zidane, expressed a great admiration of the striker. I wonder if there could well be a queue of top Euro footie clubs that will be in with big money bids that could benefit Celtic FC hugely in a record transaction for the Parkhead club. It could be interesting times ahead during the January transfer period!

yeah was reading that the day, apparently he was rodgers no1 signing target when he got the job.

No denying he has done well since he came in,strong and bags of skill. Wouldn't surprise me if he breaks the scottish transfer record. But 40 mill sounds way out of line,no ones going to pay that for a player in the SPL.

Hes on a 4 year contract
So hes going nowhere unless stupid money is offered.
Its not as if Celtic need the cash, our turnover this season might break 100m thanks to 26 mill from Europe and the 180k tickets for the 3 home games

Edgie, what would you consider stupid money?? I would imagine 40m is a bit high, probably more like 20m??

He's a good player but he has only turned 20 and is nowhere near the finished article yet. Even getting 20 million on a player you have only paid a token fee for is an incredible return.

I would be suppressed if he goes regardless of any offers in the January window, I'm even pretty sure he wont go next summer why would he, he's playing the best football of his career so far.
But and its a huge but a 20 million plus bid and he would be off (if he wants to go) but even with the cash running about in engerlish football and abroad who's going to pay that for a 20 year old who is doing great in Scotland??
more likely to go in summer 2018 if he keeps improving, it will be stupid money as lots of teams will be interested

Have to say who the fuq plucked those sort of numbers oot thin air?? obviously some bored fuqwit of a journo,I mean he comes to Celtic from Fulham scores a couple of goals v a heap of shite and all of a sudden he's a superstar, don't get me wrong he may well go on to be a very very good player, but for now gies a fuqing brek.

It depends on how many 'top Euro clubs' possibly move in for Dembele in what could be a bidding war as suggested in some media circles when this story originally broke out - unusual to happen in Scottish footie all the same!

Dembele 'bangs in' another 'hat trick' v ICT in a 6-0 rout of the latest challenger to the Hoops 'cause' of attaining a 4th treble in their history. That will add more dosh to his valuation as his reputation is enhanced even more!
