After many Scottish footie seasons that have been devoid of regular OF fixtures/hostilities, we now move towards another period of these poisonous confrontations, starting with a feisty match at Celtic Park on Saturday. We'll see if Barton's 'wind up' utterances will be firmly 'rammed down his throat' or if the bread man has done enough to shore up a dodgy defence that could be potentially 'ripped apart' by a resurgent Celtic side. I'd personally like to see that poss 'humping' materialising but mainly to observe the expected 'negative reaction' from factions of a Rangers support that deserve the exposure/criticism of this type of nasty behaviour allied to their already unacceptable sectarian activities inside a footie stadium/sports arena.

The hype around this is already unbearable. Scottish fitba has been far better without this pairs unsavoury struggles, already we have had the unedifying sight of rangers players posing with loyalist band members last weekend - highly inflammatory in the context of this tie. Jailbird joey has also made himself a target by shooting off his mouth aboot brown, brendan Rodgers and how he is going to own the spl. He's been pretty average so far.
All that aside it has the potential to be a good football match. Both sides play a similar style with the focus on pace and getting bodies up front, neither side particularly convincing at the back.... a high scoring encounter ?
McKay is the top player for rangers i think, tavernier always a threat at set pieces. For celtic rogic has really impressed me,got very good feet and a good shot on him. I noticed the Australian manager saying he had "the potential to be one of our,if not our greatest player".
Latest news is that Griffiths might miss this one with injury...which boosts rangers chances considerably.

If I was Rodgers, I'd focus a great deal of attention on Tavernier's defensive frailties and I'd be very confident of getting a positive result out of this OF match with this ploy alone. I don't rate Tavernier as a defender! Also it's a home match for Celtic and they don't lose many home games.

I don't rate their back 4 at all. Weak at set pieces,no pace in the centre. Warbiola might throw in senderos for this, but up until recently he's been working on a building site in Switzerland as no club there would touch him.

Senderos can't handle a pacy forward line anyway even when he was in better form than he is now.
Also listening to this morning's bbc radio phone in, covering the return of OF fixtures again- good thing or bad thing? That return has been 'slaughtered' this morning by lotsa people from different 'walks of life'. How refreshing to listen to these scathing criticisms that cover sectarian bigotry, assaults, intimidation, verbal abuse, domestic violence and the huge cost of Police and security Also very amusing to hear how many people are far more interested in watching the Manchester derby, even in Ireland lol! Changed days!

I spent some time in the republic with work years back 0762,and most of the punters there couldn't have cared less about Scottish football. Man utd and Liverpool were the top supported sides, if the old firm game happened to be on they would always favour celtic but not to any serious level.
The corrupt and not fit for purpose SFA on the other hand only really care about this fixture, which is precisely why they wanted the new rangers to start life in the top flight. After the tax dodging, the lies and evasion, the stiffing of creditors, the farcical LNS enquiry, They would have been allowed to do so with the "punishment" of a 15 point penalty and a fine that remains unpaid to this day.

Yep hibeejim! I concur with these comments. I call these condoning people 'members of the Rangers appreciation society'. They've been 'hovering in the background' for years and the usual suspects are within the SFA , within bbc sports circles (and other media) randomly wanting to talk anout RFC at every opportunity and they are boring, self-centred individuals who can't see through their own partial views - no impartiality with this lot!

As an aside I met up with the dublin Hibernian supporters club a couple of times...things got v messy (Dublin like Edinburgh is that kind of town) but a right good bunch of lads. Several came over regularly to go to games. One fella came all the way from Waterford!

Aye Fred,I was of the "2 cheeks of the same arse" view, but the Huns are way,way worse and been shown to be so in recent years. I hope they get humped.
I am of the opinion the morn wont matter anyway and sellick will win the league regardless.
