Defender Tom Holmes has signed a three-year contract with Reading to keep him with the Championship club until 2025.
Holmes has been with the Royals since the age of eight and graduated from their academy to make his first-team debut in 2018.
The 22-year-old, who can play at right-back or centre-back, spent time on loan at second-tier Belgian side Roeselare.
Since returning to Reading he has made 74 further appearances and scored his first goal for the club last December.
"It is easy to forget that he is one of the younger members of the squad because he bears a lot of responsibility on his shoulders and is developing into a real leader, on and off the pitch," Reading manager Paul Ince told the club website.
"I'm delighted that he has chosen to commit to Reading and I'm looking forward to having him on board as we prepare for the challenge of a new season."
