9 weeks from the end of the play offs to the start of the new season doesn't give much downtime for the players. On the other hand its less time for them to get out of shape.

Most of the pros these days daren't get out of shape the way those of (mostly) our, er, "experienced in life" generation used to do by going to Majorca or Ibiza and getting pissed for 2-3 weeks (or maybe a month). It was after all Big Frank's idea of a relaxing week or two when Liverpool told him his blood pressure was too high (or so the nurse doing his medical reported, whether she wrapped the blood pressure "sleeve" round his arm or just looked at another part of his anatomy and drew her own conclusions is anyone's guess).
They are all given fitness & weight goals and are tracked at home/abroad over t'interweb with the all the fancy dan monitoring stuff available these days. Many were also tracked during Covid, several sharticles appeared in The Unexamined about it at the time with players running up and down steps with their kids on their shoulders.
I wouldn't doubt they still go for a holiday in the Med or even the Caribbeens and beyond, but I also don't doubt they all have to take their "tracking kit" with them.
Hope there isn't a train strike on the 16th, how else are the players going to turn up at both games? Isn't that taking "double training sessions" to a bit of an extreme?

2-0 up at half time. Ben Jackson with both.
Rhodes gets the third and it's 3-1 at full time.
