Crewe Alexandra have extended the loan of forward Lachlan Brook until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old Australian initially arrived on a six-month deal from Premier League club Brentford at the start of the season.

He has made 20 appearances in all competitions for the Alex, scoring twice in 16 games in League Two, including one on his debut at Rochdale.

Brook is Crewe's first bit of business in the January transfer window.

Crewe have made their second signing of the January window by bringing in Elliott Nevitt from Tranmere Rovers for an undisclosed fee on an 18-month deal.

The 26-year-old 6ft striker has scored six times for Rovers this season, three of them against Crewe in the space of five days back in October, two in the league and one in the EFL Trophy.

Nevitt is the second player to be signed by Lee Bell since taking charge.

Lachlan Brook was the first, when he extended his loan from Brentford B.

Having passed a Wednesday evening medical, Nevitt is now in line to make his debut for the Alex this Saturday at Nigel Clough's Mansfield.

Liverpudlian Nevitt did not break into league football until he was almost 25, having played for various non-league clubs in the Merseyside area - Everton Xaverians, Burscough, City of Liverpool (twice), AFC Liverpool, Bootle, Waterloo Dock and Warrington Rylands.

He scored a hat-trick for Warrington in the 3-2 win over Berkshire side Binfield in the 2021 FA Vase Final at Wembley.

Crewe have also confirmed that summer signing Charlie Colkett, who scored the winner against Tranmere on New Year's Day, will be out for several weeks with a hamstring injury.

Crewe sit 17th in League Two, two places behind Tranmere, 10 points clear of danger and nine points adrift of the play-offs.

Crewe Alexandra have made two loan signings from Premier League clubs.

Brighton keeper James Beadle and Southampton midfielder Ryan Finnigan have both joined the League Two club for the rest of the season.

Finnigan, 19, who is yet to make his league debut, has made one first-team appearance - as a late substitute in the Saints' 2-0 FA Cup third round win over Shrewsbury two years ago.

England Under-19 international Beadle, 18, is yet to make his debut.

But he signed a new three-and-a-half year contract with the Premier League club earlier this week.

Beadle only joined the Seagulls for an undisclosed fee in January 2022 after coming through the academy with Charlton Athletic.

Both are expected to go straight into the Crewe squad to face Stockport County on Saturday.

The Alex are 17th in League Two, 11 points clear of trouble and 10 shy of a play-off place.

After suffering three straight defeats following the confirmation of Lee Bell's appointment as boss, they have turned the corner since the start of 2023 with a win and two draws.

Crewe Alexandra have made their fifth January window signing by bringing in Stevenage's former Liverpool and Port Vale striker David Amoo.

The much-travelled 31-year-old has signed on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

Crewe, 17th in League Two, are at home to Stockport County on Saturday.

Amoo and fellow new signings James Beadle and Ryan Finnigan will all be in contention to make their Alex debut for Lee Bell's side.

Amoo began his professional career with Liverpool on 1 July, 2010, the same day Roy Hodgson was appointed manager at Anfield.

After Kenny Dalglish took charge the following January, he then made three loan moves to Milton Keynes Dons, Hull City and Bury in the space for 12 months before being signed by Graham Westley at Preston in July 2012.

He has since made moves to Preston North End, Tranmere Rovers, Carlisle United, Partick Thistle, Cambridge United, John Askey's Vale and to Stevenage when Steve Evans signed him last summer.

Amoo was part of the Vale side that won promotion from League Two last season, scoring twice in 27 appearances, mostly from the bench.

Crewe Alexandra have signed Forest Green Rovers defender Sean Robertson on loan for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old is known as a right-back that likes to get forward and will stay at the Mornflake Stadium until the end of 2022-23.

Robertson came through the ranks at Crystal Palace, and joined Forest Green on a free transfer last summer.

He has made 10 appearances for them this season and now joins Lee Bell's Crewe in time for the visit of Grimsby.
