COVID violations at Ibrox!! What gives with Scot footie breaches again??
#1
Watching some of the ridiculous crowd scenes/COVID violations at Ibronx today, before and after their game v Saint Mirren, and my first question focuses on the role of certain officials of the Glesca Police and why on earth they didn't impose appropriate traffic management measures, road closures/no access etc in order to stop this kinda breach of the Scot govt's COVID restrictions around the Govan club's stadium. THEY EFFECTIVELY CONDONED THIS BEHAVIOUR WHICH IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!Thumb down The SG restrictions are for everyone to comply with and once again we're watching another instance of Scot footie operating to different rules and above the law - disgraceful and totally unacceptable as well as being a huge public health issue. The warning signs were there for all to see outside Livingston FC's stadium on Wednesday night, again unacceptable activities/behaviour by large groups of Rangers fans who think they are above it all and it reminds me of similar behaviour in the United States by Trump anti-vaccination/law breaking morons.

To be honest, the players weren't much better. There will probably be another big gathering tomorrow, listening to their trannies, desperate for Celtic to drop points.

I don't get why they didn't just wait til they....you know.....actually won the league before they celebrated. Maybe I'm old fashioned that way.

I know one thing for sure though, if that had been our fans and players behaving like that today we would have been absolutely clobbered for it on and off the park. Police would be knocking down doors in the morning.

Other than that IMO (and hinted at by other SPL managers)  they have been playing fast and loose with covid all season and its the usual eyes averted from the authorities.  Five of their players at a party, still to hear their fate FFS, one of them even played the day. Laugh

And today it was even worse than yesterday!! Absolutely outrageous and at least there was some condemnation (IMO not enough!! A few arrests?????) from govt and Police officials of what was being witnessed AGAIN as the unacceptable antics of certain Rangers football fans and the behaviour of player/officials of RFC displaying such a total disregard for the strict rules that the majority of our populace is following. And not a single word coming from the SFA or the SPFL either! Thumb down It sends out another glaring message that football and the pastime of watching 11 guys kicking a ball around a footie pitch really should be downgraded to another lower level of regard and importance altogether as factions within the sport impudently violate the public health rules that are in place for good reason. I also found tonight's tv/media coverage and reporting of this whole disgraceful episode to be totally unacceptable in the way it was presented in such a condoning "matter of fact" manner.

Remember the witch hunt of hibs supporters for having a run about and a celebration on the pitch at hampden for 10 mins ? And how that was turned into us apparently nearly murdering their entire team ? Laugh

Today their club should have been calling for the fans to stay at home until they could celebrate safely. Instead they have just encouraged them, there will be loads more of these type of gatherings now. Yet Joe public can pick up a fine for having a drink in someones house Thumb down

Rangers FC seem to have no authority nor responsibility over the actions of their players, so there's absolutely no chance of them doing anything remotely judgmental on the actions of their fans. Similarly the football authorities will not utter a cheep against Rangers FC, fearing the wrath of Stevie G.

Saw the footage of the scum predictably knocking lumps out of each other afterwards in George Square Laugh I still find it surprising the police actually escorted them all there last night instead of actually trying to do their jobs.

They are a strange bunch rangers fans. They will defend statues from BLM protestors then pish all over them when drunk, glorify the war dead every week then smash up memorial benches in George Square, eulogise the royal family then rip off her agents with their tax contributions. Total hypocrites with a right wing superiority complex.

There are dafties in every support but with that mob it's actually the majority that are knuckle draggers.

Never forget the Scottish media ran a campaign for years to identify some of our fans at Hampden. But the excuses are already in for last nights behaviour.

Great to hear the public outrage today in media channels, radio etc after listening to various Rangers "knuckle draggers" contemptuously trying to "defend the indefensible". One guy actually came out with a self-righteous line that he "enjoyed himself" and "knew he was breaking the law"????? The outraged response from Joe Public was "aye, we would all like to enjoy ourselves" but we are complying with the rules to avoid the kinda COVID "spike" that this huge violation by 1000s of idiots could actually cause. Also these scenes rightly slammed by the Scot govt at lunch time and Rangers FC's reticence described as utterly disappointing by John Swinney esp when they were advised of their obligation and accountability re the possibility of this happening and how to "nip it in the bud" - two consultation meetings convened with RFC officials in Feb!! Therefore no excuses and Gerrard's recent defensive comments really drew a look of derision from Sweeney who briefly commented there will be further action to follow after the whole issue is debated tomorrow. If I had my way, I'd end their season now and be done with it - won the footie league, well done, season over, no more footie games. The applause from people across the country would be deafening esp if there was indeed a severe threat to the process of gradually lifting the lockdown due to the COVID figures starting to recede. Lastly, I just wanna add that Rangers actually have an identifiable "black history" when it comes to winning or losing trophies - it goes back decades and decades. I could reflect back to the joyful occasion when they won their only Euro trophy ever in 1972, the European Cup Winners Cup, and totally debased themselves in the riots of Barcelona preceded by their horrible behaviour in the city itself!! That incident was just one "black incident" of many from the 1960s onwards when horrible razor gangs were also associated with them!! Moving on to this century, the battle of Manchester in 2008, after losing a Euro final, was an utter disgrace but no surprise to many Scot footie observers when GRFC officials again remained reticent while officials of Glasgow City Council "stepped up to the plate" and apologised profusely to the City of Manchester and the Police who were badly affected by this mass riot by people who couldn't take a beating. Then we had another cup final, a domestic one, the Scot Cup final of 2016 v Hibs in which they lost in the dying secs of one of the the most dramatic cup final wins of this century and again "couldn't take it on the chin" and appreciate the enormity of a historical win for Hibs and their fans, many whom celebrated on the pitch while the "knuckle draggers" (some of the usual factions of scummy Rangers fans) couldn't just walk away in the same fashion that Hibs fans have done it in decades of witnessing many cup final defeats. As said previously, IT IS A COMMON THEME THAT "STICKS" TO THIS PARTICULAR TOXIC FOOTIE CLUB AND THIS LATEST DISGRACE CAN JUST BE ADDED TO THEIR LIST OF OFFENCES. Meanwhile, move up north to Perth and compare how St Johnstone and their fans reacted to their historic win of the Scot League Cup on the previous weekend - THE WORDS "NIGHT N DAY" COME TO MIND WHEN MAKING THAT COMPARISON!!

And there you have it.

John Swinney confirming the club were told to put out a stay at home message but "the silence was deafening". Their own manager was pictured breaching covid protocol more than once.

No excuses now - they have to be hammered for this.
