2016/17 (Jan 30 Update) WBA January Transfer Window
No, give the lad a chance. But the window in general? Stunned disbelief.

The 'window' in general (not just ours) had a lot of clubs having their 'pants pulled down'...£30m for Sissoko.. Doh

Lesta...£29.7m for Slimani... Doh

Shed loads of 'Sky' money being thrown about for players no ones ever heard of and completely untried in the Prem.

Most moves were 'loans' anyway.

Yesterday proved, once more, that football is in a bad place and the more money Sky throw at it then the worse it becomes.

The most important point yesterday was that over £1 Billion was spent... Sad

Also, let's not forget that we do it all over again in 4 months time.... Big Grin

Ohh the feckin joy...

HRK is far better than Lambert.........yes I know he's no Manolo Gabbiadini (who we were linked with also) or a Slimani BUT he's a decent striker and as Beefy says, he ran his contract down, he wasn't released by Reading so lets give him a chance.

NYOM, personally I had never heard of him but a mate who lives that way says he's a good signing and a fast strong RB which is what we have needed for years now and NO I'm not knocking Dawson but Dawson lacks pace but is a danger to other teams from our corners.

GALLOWAY, looked decent in the last game. Fast and although got caught out a few times had the pace to get back and get the tackle in, also good going forwards.

CHADLI, very pleased with this signing but he also goes missing like Sess did apparently but an exciting player all the same.

I'm also very disappointed that we did not get these so called 'great players' but the ones we have signed are better than what we have let go... (well I actually liked Poc and Gamboa but they didn't get a look in).

Now its down to Pulis to play them because as we all know he buys players and leaves them in the stands. I know this is NOT his fault but he has now got imo better players so lets see what he does now.

A shambles as always but there is the slightest of silver linings in half decent players signed.

Is McManaman still with us.....................................IF so he's another exciting player BUT PULIS WON'T PLAY HIM.

Let's not do our normal and crucify him before we see him play.

Nicely put, tidy! The game is full of players who haven't shone at first but gone on to be BIG achievers! RK could prove to be a fantastic buy - let's get right behind him!! Thumb up Thumb up

In my opinion, we should look at playing the following team:

Subs
Myhill
Olsson
Nyom
Field
Morrison
Leko
Berahino

I quite like the look of the above team. It isn't as strong as it should be given the typical Albion faffing about in the transfer market but Tony Pulis is a good at squeezing everything he can out of an average team so as long as he keeps us out of the relegation zone until the January transfer window then we should realistically be able to sign some quality players with some of the new owners money.

Chadli isn't good at tracking back so by playing him as the number 10 his lack of tracking back becomes less of an issue and he can create chances and be our main man in terms of creativity. Phillips and Robson-Kanu with pace out-wide (Robson-Kanu has played the majority of his career as a left winger so it makes sense to play him there - http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hal-robso...eler/65976) and they will track back properly like Pulis likes.

Not saying your wrong Josh but whenever I've seen HRK play he's played on the right or up top on his own.

Read the chairman's piece and it's frustrating that he's stated we switched midfield targets and pulled out for footballing reasons...footballing reasons?

Are the "footballing reasons" that we don't play football?

I agree that some of the 'Reading reject' comments about HRK are out of order as they obviously wanted to keep him.

But whenever I've watched him, he looks lower league fodder. His goal record is poor even for an attacking midfielder and most of that time was playing at a lower level.

I hope I'm wrong, but the signing screams of doing things on the cheap... AGAIN.

Our best XI should be good enough to keep us in the league, but we're wafer thin in terms of squad. Hell, even our best XI has no legs in the middle of the park. I'm GOBSMACKED we didn't sign a good central midfielder at the very least. Hope it doesn't come back to haunt us.

Regarding Camacho, I find it hard to believe Pulis pulled the plug as that simply isn't logical as he's been pleading for signings. The only logical explanation why Pulis would do that is if he didn't want him in the first place, which begs the question what communication is actually going on within the hierarchy that runs the club? Probably very little based on what we've seen over the past 3-4 years...

The more I read about the Camacho deal I now believe they may have hung him (Pulis) out to dry,

Malaga have released a statement saying we met the release clause but we wanted to defer £3 million until the end of the season,

So someone is telling porkies Ay they Whistle

Read this of .com I suppose it entirely down to you who you believe,

Our chairman or theirs Huh

In short - club doesn't want to be seen as cheap and messing up a potentially big deal, so they have to think of an excuse.

With this they claim tenuously that Pulis wasn't happy with Camacho and pulled the plug...even though he'd supposedly passed a medical and signed - it's a bit odd isn't it? At worst, Pulis could have 'done a Chester' with Camacho if he failed and used him mostly as a sub...it would be awful for Pulis and his PR but not as bad as pulling the plug in the final hour of a possible deal.

At the same time, the chairman of Malaga said the clause was not met. Logically, is there a reason why he would say this? Is he good friends with Tony Pulis? I don't think so, and think he was telling the truth.

With this, the club looks slightly better than saying "we were cheap and messing about" and they're not fully blaming Pulis either meaning he takes some of the blame but he hasn't been fully put out to dry either.

Even if you hugely dislike Pulis, I can't see him pulling out of a deal - historically he doesn't care about spending a clubs money and really needed a player in that position. It doesn't make any logical sense for him to dropout, especially as the deal got so far down the line, I don't think he has that amount of power either, especially as his contract is running down.
