The FA Cup 4th Qualifying round

at The Brewery Field

The trail to Wembley stays up in Spennymoor after the Moors beat Ashton Utd in the 3rd qualifying round. Now we have reached the final round of qualifying and the big boys of the Conference Premier enter the competition. And Spennymoor have landed one of them in the shape of last season's Conference North champions, AFC Telford.
That's a three division gap between the two teams with the home team playing in the Evo-Stik League Division One North.
Telford, like Spennymoor Town, are a new team born out of an old side that went broke in the early 2000s and have worked their way back into the Conference after their triple relegation ten years ago. They are managed these days by former Preston North End striker, Liam Watson.

The draw for the first round proper is being shown live on Monday evening on BBC2 at 7:00.

Spennymoor Town squad: Will Jones, Adam McHugh, Kallum Griffiths, Daniel Groves, Stephen Capper, Christopher Mason, Paul Johnson, Joe Tait, Ben Sayer, Andrew Stephenson, Shane Henry, Keith Graydon, Lewis Dodds, John McReady, Anthony Peacock, Michael Roberts, Liam Henderson, Gavin Cogdon, Craig Lynch, Andrew Johnson.

AFC Telford squad: Jonathan Hedge, Neill Byrne, Steve Akrigg, Michael Grogan, Charlie Barnett, Adam Farrell, Tony Gray, Sean Clancy, Sean Cooke, Andy Pryce, Rod McDonald, Kristian Platt, Sam Smith, Jordan Deacey, Godfrey Poku, Andy Todd, Ryan Higgins, Andy Parry, Freddy Hall, Rhys Oates, Josh Hancock.

The road to Wembley now goes down to Shropshire, to Telford's New Bucks Head Stadium. Two late goals on Saturday from Adam Farrell and Michael Grogan saved the Conference Premier side from embarrassment.
The prize for the winners of this tie is an away trip to either Basingstoke or Harrow Borough in the first round proper. So one of these four non league teams will be in the hat for the 2nd round, dreaming of landing a real big club like Huddersfield in the 3rd round.

Saturday's highlights

AFC Telford squad: Jonathan Hedge, Neill Byrne, Steve Akrigg, Michael Grogan, Charlie Barnett, Adam Farrell, Tony Gray, Sean Clancy, Sean Cooke, Andy Pryce, Rod McDonald, Kristian Platt, Sam Smith, Jordan Deacey, Godfrey Poku, Andy Todd, Ryan Higgins, Andy Parry, Freddy Hall, Rhys Oates, Josh Hancock.

Close to the end and Telford go two nil ahead. Can the Moors pull off a remarkable come back like Telford did on Saturday?

Not now. It's 3-0.
