I think many of just get so frustrated at the club's approach to dealing in the transfer market. I fully understand that much will be going on behind the scenes of which we are unaware and I know that transfers involve negotiation and barter. However, we seem to have raised the latter to an art form. At some point, it should become clear, after several conversations, that if a club is demanding £30million for a player (eg Slimani) then you can either offer well below that amount and then keep slightly increasing or you can recognise that the seller wants the £30million so you pay it because you really want the player. The former approach may mean you get a cheaper deal but also risk losing the player to another offer (Arsenal, in this instance) or you possibly pay slightly more than you really want but get a positive outcome (the player joins the club). In this instance, if we have already offered £26million, as reported, then, ffs, pay the additional £4million now and get him. The days of securing absolute steals in the market, achieved by Dan Ashworth, do seem to be over now so we need to recognise the new reality - if you really want a player, you will have to pay the amount demanded because the EPL is awash with money and overseas clubs know this. No doubt we'll lose out on this player but sign one of Burnley's reserve strikers on deadline day

Maybe not if it is correct, "Arsenal look set to beat Everton to the signature of Deportivo striker Lucas Perez." SSN

Today's rumours according to Birmingham Mail;

Ebenezer Ofori
Ghanaweb say that Albion are among a number of Premier League clubs that are interested in AIK Stockholm midfielder and Ghana international Ebenezer Ofori.
Ofori, 21, is a defensive midfielder who can play as a left-sided full-back. He has experience on the European stage with AIK, whom he moved to from Ghanaian side New Edubiase United in 2013.

Hull and Sunderland are the other top flights quoted as having an interest.

Carlos Apna Embalo
Tuttomercato are exclusively reporting that Albion's interest in Palermo winger Carlos Apna Embalo could be made concrete with a bid.

Embalo, born in Guinea-Bissau, is 21 and spent last season out on loan at Brescia. He's yet to make an appearance for the Rosanero, though he did sign a new long-term contract in June.

There is also a "spurious" link (elsewhere) mentioning Oumar Niasse from Everton. With his record at Everton you would think that would be a non starter, some Everton fans saying, he must have somehow falsified his playing record as he is not good enough to play junior school football. Coleman was also pretty scathing I thought in his last interview when he said, "If he likes to play football, then he needs to leave Everton", not to mention Everton have even took his squad number off him. Given all of that we will probably have a £35 million bid in for him by the close of business today.

On a lighter note we can expect some intense activity with only 6 days of the window remaining and at least 4 more players to come in. It must be true because TP said so.

Those two fill me with the confidence we are moving in the right direction and if we could get Niasse we would be complete. After that, just sign Leon Best and Shola Ameobi and we're nailed on for a Champions League spot. Just wake me up when the transfer deadline has come and gone, the excitement is just too much.

How about Gary Lineker up front he is still with our age range (55) or we could really push the boat out bring back "Cyrille Cyrille Cyrille", mind you Cyrille is probably still better than Lambert even now.

Don`t know if it`s true...........

I have heard that Gouchan Lai still has to be ratified as a fit and proper person by the FA. If so we are still under JP`s tenure.

That's pretty much as I understand the situation, though at present it is supposed to just be a formality. Nothing with the baggies surprises me anymore, so if we suddenly end up with JP back in the seat well so be it Whistle
