Good start form Adam Peaty today, breaking the world record in the heats.

Clock set for 3:08 in the morning, hopefully to watch a gold medal coming home.

Alarm clock reset for 2:30. Peaty is only at the semi final stage. But James Guy is on at 2:30 in his final.

Guy came 6th but was leading for most of the race. Had it been a 350m race, he would've won gold. Rolleyes

Hannah Miley missed out on GB's first medal of the games by a fingertip.

Peaty won his semi final. His time though was only the second fastest of all time. Whistle
Looks nailed on then that he'll be the first men's 100m breaststroke winner since Adrian Moorhouse.

Russian swimmers jeered by the Olympics crowd and in the case of the female Russian champion swimmer, Efimova, she'd been previously caught for drug cheating!! The one finger disrespectful salute by that American swimmer, King, was priceless!! But why did the various swimming associations, esp FINA, give Efimova the 'green light' to compete anyway??? Absolutely baffling and embarrassing for the sport in general!

I 'feel' for Hannah Miley and that split second loss - an absolute shame for an honest lassie and a clean swimmer!

King beats Efimova to win the 100m breaststroke gold medal for the USA - so ironic!
