'Fraid not. Its West Midland branch terminates (in as much as any canal can really "terminate") at Bordesley Junction. The major cut running through Tipton is the Birmingham Old Main Line.

As for Lukaku: the word has always been that he snubbed us when we went in for the second loan deal and chose Everton of his own accord. When they finally came to buy him a year later, it's not too much of a stretch to believe that he'd have favoured them again; his prospects were better there. Hence it wouldn't just have been a case of us stumping up the £28m; we'd have been forced into an instant bidding war, and you'd have been looking at a £40m+ layout instead in no time at all. Maybe the eventual price tag on him would have justified that. Or maybe right about now, we'd have all been moaning that Lukaku's current goal drought was because of piss-poor service, that we shouldn't be thinking about selling him, and why can't we just stump up another £40m for a winger?

It's all a high-stakes game of poker, which is never fun when you're the bloke who shows up with the fewest chips, and even less fun when someone's stood by your shoulder telling you the hands you should have gambled on and the ones you should have folded long after they're done.

4evaabaggie,   I hear what you say but Rom was in love with the Baggies during his season with us and might not have taken a lot of persuading particularly when you consider he was really a 'nobody' when he came to us and then had regular first team footy. This was shown when he didn't celebrate at all when he scored against us after his move to Everton.

His contract could have included a buy-out clause and it might have been worthwhile pushing the boat out and the return could have been huge. As a club, we don't take gambles and give him his due, JP has always run a tight profitable ship albeit we will never be successful without any aspirations or ambitions for success. As it stands, we will sadly always be 'also rans'

Maybe, just maybe, things will change when and if we are sold to wealthy new owners.

Sad

Does anyone else, like me, fear the worst - JP senses a bit of a bidding war and waits for the price to go up.....he waits ......and waits .....
.....we all know the potential outcome here. Doh
FFS JP, PLEEEEAASE!!!

As a footnote to that last post, I personally hold no massive ill feelings towards SB, and think a move to Palace under Alan Pardew would be really good for him - I could see him flourishing there

Baggies, again I agree with you, would have loved the fridge from Stamford bridge to sign ..... but the workings behind football's closed doors are a mystery.

Apparently we may go up to 10m for Lewis Dunk, which would probably be accepted.

I reckon we'd line up Dawson Dunk McAuley Evans
