Well that's certainly one part of the Christian faith, but the true Christian Right over here are not Catholic, but they will happily kill someone such as employees at clinic that perform abortions as well as thousands of other procedures in the name of their religion!! They don't seek forgiveness for there "sin", they just think they are right!!!! The civil rights movement in the 60s in the south was forever being attacked physically by so called white Christians and even now there is that church in Kansas that protests at any military funeral and even protested this week at a funeral of one of the victims of the Orlando shooting, claiming the dead are sinners!!!

I have a complete distrust for the Christian Right over here, in fact I would say I would trust the Muslim community more than the Christian zealots we see here!! I also hate it when their values or beliefs are rammed down your throat as things you to should adhere to, that's bollocks, as you said Stateside, we all know what is essentially right or wrong and shrouding that in some belief system still makes it right or wrong!!

Absolutely no doubt! Extremist Christians run America, they're gun & god loving maniacs. Clearly knowing nothing about their 'God' Laugh There's no difference between them and ISIS they deplore so much.

To go one step further, it remains that holy trinity ( Judaism, Christianity & Islam) of semitic religions which are causing the most trouble globally. King Richard's crusades never ended, they're still fighting over the holy land thousands of years later.
The rest of us in the middle have to persevere whilst all of them complain at us, and demand 'more'

I must admit that standing on the outside it's surreal that Uncle Sam refuses to change the gun laws given all the events that seem to occur on a regular basis in the US of A Laugh Cry especially when massacres that are a regular event in States happen elsewhere there's such an outpouring of grief, condemnation and solidarity with the victims from your side of the pond Huh

That would be the NRA. They lobby heavily against any type of Gun control or reform. No moral compass whatsoever they've been called out on such campaigns as targeting kids at young ages to get in to guns.

The NRA called up most of the Republican Senators up straight after thee Orlando shooting and told them, if you want to keep your seat you better vote against any type of gun reform. Despite 85% of Americans demanding that people on the no-fly or terrorist watch lists be stopped from walking into a shop & buying high powered weapons that have only one purpose, to mow down human beings.

Then there's the 2nd amendment, which is so poorly and loosely interpreted, the Republicans & NRA use it to whip up hysteria within the gun toting community that Mr Black ( insert N word here) president is coming to their house to take away their guns Doh

And there's the American public, who as much as they deny it, are suckers for a tragedy. They seem to get off on a bit of misery, a strange twist on schadenfreude

Not that simple Maddix. Stocks take a beating, people stop investing, companies downsize or fold. That's what happened in 08. It affects me because my pension funds are invested and have already taken a hit. The stock market very much affects the lives of ordinary people. They often don't realize it.

I shouldn't expect we'd need new Passports, unless we're thinking about heading into Europe in the next few years, Imre!

Our current ones will still work to visit Blighty I should imagine.
