I don't think anyone is denying that, the past reputation follows and precedes the England fans!!  And show me a set of fans from any country who will not be "up for it" if they are set upon??  The more we hear about this, the more it feels organized from the perspective of the Russian gangs and to a lesser extent the French ultras.  As you say Fred, they know the England fans travel in numbers and will retaliate.

Seems the trouble between other fans also stems from Eastern European gangs, is there a pattern emerging??

If some of our fans weren't acting like pricks Russian Ultras wouldn't feel there was anything to gain by attacking innocent fans.

Other countries might even follow our lead. After all they seem pretty quick to adopt the same ludicrous behaviour patterns.

Sorry Devon, I think that's nonsense regarding withdrawing from the tournament!!  That is just playing into the hands of the trouble makers and gives rival teams fans a perfect way to get a country banned.

And no country would follow our lead, they would then be saying thank god the English are taking all the blame for this and sit by holding their hands innocently in the air!!!

(12-06-2016, 11:33)0762 Wrote: I'm guessing the first event in Nice is an isolated incident that can happen at any venue - apparently a bottle thrown by a local youth and that 'sparked' the prob with this gang of local youths in Nice. I'm not reading about ensuing violence through the night and will be very surprised if this scenario arises. The other incident was again an isolated one but, as hibeejim says, there is some previous bad blood between factions of extreme RW Polish fans and elements of NI 'prody inspired' fans who I hope are in a minority within the mix of NI fans who wanna see their team doing well for a change.

So now trouble elsewhere, surely this too is the fault of the England fans isn't it???  Obviously I am being flippant but now you say this one is an isolated incident that can happen anywhere, politically motivated but it's ok because unlike England fans, most NI fans wanna see their team do well!!!  In actual fact the common denominator seems to be the local French ultras and youths, been involved in both cities now. We will see more of this going on, now let's see how it gets reported, if at all.

Comparing the awful events in Marseilles with the recent clashes in Nice is absolute nonsense and you know this is the case!!! This is a cute technique of deception and deflecting away from the 'English problem', which is self-evident and more significant than you wanna admit! Devongate summarised the English fans' problem eloquently enough in one of his previous threads and it's noticeable that you only wanted to focus on his suggestion of a unilateral withdrawal by the English FA! As previously commented, there is a problem with certain factions of English fans and it's no surprise the initial flashpoint involved England fans. The prob is multi-layered and there are so many factors attached to unsavoury elements of English fans - racism, sectarianism, antagonism, drunkenness, intimidation, English right-wing patriotism which is very unhealthy and the worst ones move around in mobs of yobbos who strive to create a poisonous atmosphere that could erupt into violence at any time

I think it was Fred that said violence is violence.  I have never deflected away from the English problem, if you want a fight, find some England fans because they will generally oblige!!!  But it is disingenuous to suggest we should ignore trouble in other cities just because it doesn't involve England.    Even on the tv over here they are making the link between the trouble and Eastern European gangs, doesn't exonerate certain England fans for sure, but this is not just an England problem.  As they also pointed out, the vast majority of England, Russian and all other nations fans are there for the football and want no part of any of this, as has always been the case but it's the yobs that once again get all the headlines.

I've been reading this thread is it to wind up England supporters?

On Friday Marseille ultras kicked it off by throwing bottles at England fans and trying to get a reaction out of them which they did.

It's a mixture between Marseille ultras, Russian ultras and I would say 1% of England fans, those 1% of England fans who are goading for trouble by singing songs like "**** the EU were leaving anyway" are making it bad for the rest as they are there to watch the football and have a good time but the media and a lot of non-England fans are tarring them all with the same brush.

What is happening is the Russia ultras are attacking the England fans when they've had a drink because they know they will get a reaction and let's ask you this, if someone was chasing you with a knife or a machete you would defend yourself wouldn't you? There were trouble between Northern Ireland and Polish fans last night, there's trouble between Germany and Ukraine fans but that's not being widely reported because it's not England.

England and Russia will be kicked out of the tournament if there is anymore trouble now guess what will happen now French hooligans and other fans are going to goad and wind up English fans so that they get a reaction and then we get kicked out. I also read that a Russian said there going after all British fans there meaning Welsh, English and N. Irish and possibly Irish.

If Scotland had made it to the Euro's they wouldn't have halo's over there heads or be innocent as anything.

A possible Russia v Ukraine fixture would be one match to savour ( for all the wrong reasons!) and the certain subsequent unsavoury events would distract us from other England fans' indiscretions and others elsewhere! Wink  It could be a good reason to allow Slovakia to slip in front of both Russia and England and avoid such a potentially volatile fixture! Who said there are no politics attached to footie eh! The thing that struck me re that incident with these 'big Russians' Imre was the fact that these guys were sober and the attacks were venomous and dangerous, prob calculated, against many fans who appeared to be 'jugged up to their eyeballs' and were definitely easy targets for this kinda sinister group of thugs.

The head of the Russian football fans’ union has denied there were any clashes between fans at the end of the game -

“In fact, there was no clash,” said Aleksandr Shprigin. “The entire English sector… just got up and ran away.''
