05/02/2016 : Dave King's statement from yesterday covers transfers, Auchinlowie, Ibrox, Sports Direct and Supporters Groups.

On Sports Direct :

A further unanticipated investment was made to pay off the Sports Direct loan and to recover all security held by Sports Direct. That has now been completed and the Club has formally given notice to end the relationship with Sports Direct while still reserving our right to proceed with challenges to the existing suite of contracts and side agreements in a court of law.

For the first time a Board of this Club has stood up to the threats of Sports Direct and has achieved resounding success in court proceedings including the substantial recovery of legal costs. Sports Direct’s motives were severely exposed when a High Court judge ruled that Sports Direct abused court processes in its attempt to bully the Club and me. We will continue to put Rangers first and ensure that we get redress and compensation for the poor commercial and business practices that the Club has been forced to endure.

Down to just the 9 now. As an aside demonstrations held outside the megastore today, and banners in the ground decrying Ashley.

Demonstrations are great but the fans en masse need to stop buying anything from the  store, won't hurt the club that much but might force Ashley to do something.

07/03/2016 : A positive summary, still a work in progress, but it is progress, on and off the pitch.

That's a fair statement: football, finance and business.

What's to comment on? We all knew that would be the case at least until we get back to the top division and the increased revenue that that generates.

These interim results show that we'd already be well in profit if we had any sort of acceptable retail deal in place.

On the face of it, it's been a fantastic first year for the board. Finances have improved massively, the football department has been revolutionary in both style and performance, and we're making back page headlines much much more than front page ones.

The difference between then and now is like night and day.

It's only echoing what King has said numerous times, which is that we would need ongoing funding until we're competitive in the top flight again. Hearts and Hibs have also required capital funding to support expenses while in the Championship.
