Bloody hell, you Scots will argue about anything!!!! Introducing a living wage is a good thing surely, irrespective of who does it and what has gone on in the past!!! The whole of the football world has left debts in its trail over the past 20 years, finally we are starting to see some financial sanity in Scotland at least and that has to be a good thing.

Besides, the most important thing this week was the boards decision to pay off the Ashley loan and start the process of moving him out of the club.

BDO seek to appeal Rangers tax case decision over use of EBTs

Rangers' liquidators BDO are seeking leave to appeal a decision that the club's use of Employee Benefit Trusts (EBTs) broke tax rules.

Rangers used the scheme from 2001 until 2010 to give millions of pounds of tax-free loans to players and other staff.

HM Revenue and Customs maintains these were salary payments and subject to tax

HMRC lost two tax tribunals before winning its case at the Court of Session earlier this month. Any appeal will be heard by the Supreme Court.

Announcing its decision, BDO said: "Following discussions with the company's legal advisers and the liquidation committee, the joint liquidators have filed an application seeking leave to appeal the Inner House of the Court of Session decision in respect of the EBT case.

"If the company successfully obtains leave to appeal, the appeal will be heard in the Supreme Court in London.

"The joint liquidators are not in a position at this stage to make any further comment in respect of the appeal."

The wilful denial of simple, basic and easy to understand facts by a large proportion of people who should know better, has become extremely tedious.

The Daily Record's own article on this news today labels the use of EBTs as "illegal" when the basic facts are that they aren't, weren't at any stage and cannot become "illegal" simply because a Court of Session panel says they should be subject to taxation in their opinion.

Their propagandist agenda is so apparent it's indefensible.
