I honestly have no idea what Pulis is going for. We will now have 3 right-sided centre backs and 2 left-sided ones. Chester looked poor at RB against City and was subsequently dropped, but now there is no chance he will get a game at CB being the only one under 6'. We are just stockpiling centre backs.
On the plus side, Fazio was excellent at Sevilla and being 6'5" and slow he will suit Pulis' deep defence more than the high line that exposed him at Spurs. Also, it is pleasing that we seem to be addressing the ageing defence issue this summer - even though we are only signing central defenders. As a side note, another £5m? Total spend is going to hit £50m this summer if Pulis gets who he wants. And we haven't even received a bid for Saido...

My "in the know"....... who I play footy with, is best mates with dan ashworths pets sisters cat....... Lescott wanted out in the summer, wanted to go to the MLS, as he doesn't like the relationship he has with TP, he will be off............
There is certainly no end to the transfer activity this summer.
I agree with the majority that the team selection and positions played is very confusing. But Arsenal fans also complain constantly about Wenger playing people out of position. It's a common complaint across the boards and so I don't think TP is any different in messing with a fans head. I am pleased to see Fazio being strongly linked and am pleased the defence is a refreshment project in progress but I am concerned about selling Saido. It's seems almost certain he'll leave before the end of August. I will not be devastated if he does go but I will be very angry if a quality replacement has not been lined up as being a striker down has always been my nightmare.

Although I don't think centre back is a priority position, I'd be happy with Fazio.
When McAuley is out, we don't have a big, strong centre half who dominates in the air and we look weak at set pieces. If Fazio can recapture his Sevilla form, he could be the long term replacement. Hands down I'd be happier with him than some of the others we've been linked with, such as Jonny Evans. I think this also confirms that Chester was purchased to play at right back, which might not be a bad option in the long run. He's fairly quick, decent on the ball and is a threat in the air in both boxes. Pretty sure he played there or on the right side of a 3 in most of his time at Hull, so is comfortable in that role. Think it'd be unfair to write him off based on the City game. I just hope we have a mobile central midfielder on the radar if we're going to persist with 4-4-2. With £10m likely to be spent on Fazio and Marshall, who are both good players but not priority position, I just hope that doesn't mean the cash pot has run out...

Important to note that Fazio did play a holding role in midfield for Sevilla on occasions
