I've never seen so much back peddling from one board. You wouldthink Hibs had won the match given the deflection from them. Tynie bombastic about the drubbing, we were to be meted out yesterday has completly whitewashed the Result.
Another dismal attendance from the home fans. What a poor set of fans they are.

Let's get this intae perspective, disappointing? extremely. Embarrassing? certainly, disastrous? naw
Whatever's said hibs played wi' half o' what would be 1st choice picks missing. 1st half, hibs edged it. 2nd half rangers on top. Every rangers shot on target a goal, was that brilliant play by rangers or a shite day at the office for oxley. Hibs could have been 3 up before rangers scored. A needless free kick on the edge o' the area that was well converted. 3 goalkeeping howlers and a.couple o' defensive comedy sketches.Did rangers deserve tae win? Aye but let's keep it real.Oh,I nearly forgot, the unsettling tactics o' the previous 3 days seemed tae work

And before ye start slagging hibs attendances coop look at yer ain crowds fae last season when things wirnae gaun too well

I'd blame Oxley for the third Diego but it's yer back four that were shite, who was all missing bounce(not being a xxxx)because Allan on bench hibs started with only two names who weren't in the starting 11 last season.

Let's be honest about a couple of things here. That was the strongest side Hibs had available and only a couple of players who played weren't played regularly last season. Stubbs said the tie was important to him and there was no 'development squad' out there. Having said that, he did have a handful of injuries to contend with, so the Hibs side could have been stronger, particularly up front. But by the same token, does that mean Hibs will need to stay injury free all season to be competitive? Everyone picks up injuries and suspensions and you need a good enough squad to cope.

Also, Oxley was a disaster at the 3rd goal (though not much more so than Foderingham at the 1st Hibs goal), but I wouldn't really fault him for the other goals, so those were down to the defence. What star defenders have still to come back in to the side?

Our crowds where low for a reason paignton! Your fans have been posted missing for years. Hibs could and maybe should have been 3-1 up, but you didn't take your chances. Your first goal was poor keeping, and as for the pen soft at best. As for perspective Stubbs put out what he thought was a strong enough side to beat Rangers. It should have been 8-2given the dominance in the 2nd half. I'm not getting carried away by one result, but there are a lot of positives to be taken from the performance. Its another game under their belt and more importantly a marker has been laid down. The league will be a good contest this season.

Rangers scored with every attempt on target, aye.

But so did Hibs.

I guess it's a psychological thing to seek every and any excuse for a gubbing.

Missed the game on Saturday, was out all day at a wedding, no phone reception, no updates. Remembered to record it though, watched it back around midnight, half-pished. Was a magic day all round!

Some major differences in our team style already evident. The difference in tempo and basic pace of play (and players) is like night and day, we saw Waghorn scoring the crucial third goal by doing something that we haven't been doing since before McCoist took the reigns - gambling on taking a chance to shoot for goal, and benefiting from it, and we saw a much higher pressing line, especially in the second half. Our players seem to have confidence in themselves and more importantly their team-mates, there's a confidence even in the tackle that wasn't apparent previously. There's no more languorous passing between defenders, there's a zip to our tempo that makes it immeasurably more difficult to play against, and in Tavernier we now have an equal attacking threat on the right as we do with Wallace on the left.

The progress made in such a short time has been nothing short of astonishing. Even Barrie McKay put a good cross in!

However, there were some negatives: Pass-backs to the keeper need to be judged better, too many times early on our defence caused him a degree of unnecessary panic, which for a goalkeeper could be disastrous. Of course that will get ironed out in time, I'm sure. Same with the basic defensive errors that caused the first goal - backing off and allowing  free shot at goal. I don't think Mr Weir will allow that to go unnoticed.

It has to be said - it has set a brilliant marker for the coming season, and I can only see us getting better over time.

Oh, and one more thing - It was refreshing to witness a referee that didn't seem to go out of his way to penalise Rangers unfairly. Maybe the 'establishment' is looking upon us in a much more cordial light these days. Or maybe Willie Collum just hasn't read the memo yet. Whistle

must agree ab oot the ref, had a good game. funny how rangers and celtic fans always think the refs are biased against them and everybody else thinks they always get the dodgy decisions. fans and their opinions eh

He still got the penalty decision very, very badly wrong, mind you. Wink

However, I'm talking overall, scenarios where an unfair free-kick would have been given against us last season didn't seem to occur in this game. I'm sure it'll be mentioned in the SFA referee's report though. Whistle

Also, let's not divert the topic away from the brilliance of the performance and result, eh? Tongue
