Totally true but I think he was always going to put himself in an awkward position given that he's primarily identified as a British player. There will undoubtedly be tennis fans out there who will now refuse to support him or will even turn against him because of this. I think too many people feel the need to nail their political colours to the mast (though this doesn't just apply to celebrities). Actually, has anything good ever come from a celebrity Twitter account?

Exactly no matter what way he backed it would put him in an awkward position and he would have got stick off Yes voters if he decided No. I don't think anything has come good from any celebrity on Twitter or any social media site. I will still support him and would have still supported him if Scotland had gone independent. If Scotland or Ireland or Wales were in the World Cup and England weren't then I would support them and hope they do well. I don't understand why certain people hate the Scots, I don't hate the Scots I think there great people same goes for the Irish. There's too much hate in the World. There's nothing wrong in having healthy rivalry and banter but I would say a small minority take it too far. The same goes for football if your team is playing against there rivals, you see grown men fighting over football its sad, pathetic and embarrassing no one likes to lose to there rivals but you don't fight about it, its just a game somethings are more important.

The Yes campaign was full of rhetoric about the UK government is taking this, that and the other from us, starving our children, stealing our oil money etc. The No campaign was based in realism, not negativity. The Yes campaign was a mixture of cloud cuckoo land peronism and negativity towards the union and towards No backers. Alex Salmon saying the big businesses and banks were coerced into making statements about what would happen in the event of a Yes vote? Give me a break. I have to say I have been following the independence thread on the old site and I have never seen so much biased comments on one thread before in my life!!!! I have been following the debate through various news channels, all online as its really not in the news here at all until the actual voting day, and from what I have seen the No campaign seemed to be a bit of a bungling bunch but were giving information that benefitted their argument for obvious reasons. The Yes campaign seemed to me to just side step so many important issues that would have allayed a lot of the fears that normal Scottish folk had, to me they were inept and missed a great opportunity to further their cause. Big mistake by Salmond in my opinion but I have always thought he was a lightweight politician!! But of course the thread on the other site saw everything No said as being either lies or bullying or scaremongering etc, no realism in a lot of the posts!! |
