If we sign James Perch then we will have a replacement for Baird as our jack-of-all-trades utility player. Those sort of players may not add strength to the starting 11 but they add strength to the squad which is very handy.
Matty Philipps on the other hand will be a very positive signing. He and McManaman as our 2 wingers will give us the width that we desperately lack.

So we've agreed a fee for James McClean and Watford have agreed a fee for Diego Perroti
Going to be a long hard season if we persist with signing journeymen from the Championship and
the promoted sides are signing quality, top level players.
Bournemouth have already bagged Atsu and Watford are close to Perotti, both are much better
wingers than McClean.
Frustrated already. We're supposed to be the established Premier League side...

Frustrated already. We're supposed to be the established Premier League side... Too many people at the club and supporters are far to happy to accept mediocrity, if you suggest why we don't go for these sort of players people throw out the old "do we want to end up like Leeds,Pompey" etc. People who suggest we should show more ambition are fully aware we can't go out and spend £50M during the summer so people don't need to come out with the same old excuses for the club we need to show some kind of ambition we have been left behind by the likes of Swansea who are a smaller club than West Brom whichever way you look at it. I think people being happy with the likes of McClean arriving sums it up perfectly ok he may be better than what we've already got but to be honest he couldn't be any worse due to the lack of quality players brought in over the last 2 seasons.
This is just my opinion on how things stand at the moment hopefully they prove any doubters wrong over the summer

I can just about accept McClean, but if we are honestly going in for James Perch then I give up on next season already. Tbh I can't find a link and it looks like just a rumour on a Wigan site but if that truly is the extent of our ambition whilst Watford are splashing £7m on Diego Perotti then we are well on the way to having the worst squad in the league.
The owner situation needs to be sorted out ASAP and then we need to start signing some GOOD players, not the dross we are being linked with.

No offence mate, but I'm pretty sure sure you said that last season and we finished 13th. So let's just see what happens on the pitch.

Care to expand? I rated most of our signings last year - bar Davidson and Baird - who I openly said were nowhere near good enough and was proved to be right.

Really not too keen on McLean if I'm honest but I'm not going to judge him too much until he plays in an Albion shirt.
Is disappointing to see that a newly promoted team like Watford are signing class players such as Perotti in a position we desperately need. He would be a great signing for us and is another I think we've missed out on.
Also seeing clubs like Swansea signing Andre Ayew on a free, he was linked to Spurs and arsenal and they've managed to get him for nothing! Seems like we are missing out on quite a few at the moment especially in positions we need

But you must surely agree that judging by pre season transfers, QPR would have a good season (caulker , Ferdinand, Fer etc.). This, of course, did not turn out to be the case. So let's just stop this swooning over other clubs, and 'swap us with a championship club, we don't deserve to be in the league', nonsense. Until we see the teams out on the pitch, at least.

Happens every year, BC. Same old, same old. Wish we could get a few of the positive Albion posters to Express & Star threads on here.
