All matches to be shown live on the BBC as well, which is great progress for the women's game. Either that or it just shows that the Beeb don't have much left in the budget after splashing 99% of it on MOTD, to pay those greedy men more money.

Talking of men. Will the media be doing the same kind of attention during the campaign to the Husbands & Boyfriends of the England players as they do with the W&Gs?

Or wags, snoots. Women in sport are less reticent about coming out as gay than their male counterparts.

Good point. And good use of the word reticent. Thumb up

Watching Germany v Ivory Coast. The Germans should be seven up alread but keep missing chances. The Ivories are terrible and the lady commentator just remarked that they don't understand offside

Don't think the male co commentator would've got away with that.
Twenty minutes gone, 2-0 to Germany.

Now 5-0, Women's football is a bit like the Men's game was 50 years ago, European teams are the best ones along with one or two others but the third world countries are so far behind in terms of quality!!! The Ivory Coast goalie has pulled off some good saves but her positioning is atrocious!!

Still, this is better than the England game earlier against Ireland!!

5-0 now and it's not even half time.
This is a bit like the matches in the 70s World Cups when the likes of Zaire played and got hammered. The African men have come on leaps and bounds since then. Think Sepp needs to make sure all the millions being given to the developing nations is spread out evenly to include the women's game.

Wow! We were just writing the same observation there, SCO. Big Grin

Great minds think alike!!

The record score in the Women's WC is 11-0, Germany over Argentina, the current German team could beat that one in this game.

Later games in the tournament will be better when we see the likes of England play France, or when the US play Sweden.  But in the group stages there will be a few games like this one!!

6-0. The bounce on that pitch is absolutely ridiculous. We've played on better artificial surfaces in the lower leagues in Scotland; no excuse at all for making the women's teams play on that.
