I think we average 13-14 attempts a game which is decent, but only average 3 attempts on target per game.
Nothing great will ever be achieved without great men, and men are great only if they are determined to be so. For glory gives herself only to those who have always dreamed of her.

Our attempts from inside the penalty area have dropped by over 30% compared to last season. That is where we are missing Antonio. Now we resorting to shooting from 25 yards whereas with Antonio, we got into the box and had so many attempts from close range. It's no coincidence that Antonio has the most assists in the SBC over the last three seasons & is the top scoring midfielder. Take that out of a team & it is little surprise the goals have dropped, particularly at home, where teams can defend with a high line now without the fear of Antonio's pace.

I agree that Antonio would have made a difference, but during the match threads we always go on about how many attempts we have yet so few are on target. It does suggest that if we had a clinical striker or two we would have put far more of those attempts on target and would have scored more goals. Antonio may well go down as a mistake, but the lack of quality strikers would be a problem even with him in the team!!

The difference is that the attempts we are having this season include a lot more 25 yard punts and a lot less from five yards, as we had last season with Antonio in the team. Sure, we are missing good chances but we did last season. The big difference is that we are getting a lot less good chances this season.

if we want to go up then we'd need another striker regardless of whether May has/hasn't done it this year.
What I'm saying is he has had enough time now to have settled in England and to have a feel for it. Get him on the weights pre-season, give him a pre-season (last year he was playing in Europe from early July) and wait to see if he has what we first thought. Doesn't even have to be a full years chance, we could ship him off in January if he's not cutting it (same with Lavery, Bus, Nuhiu, anyone new who we sign)
