I'd been saying for months at the end of last season that we were better without him in the starting 11 Antonio had one bad game against Charlton when he tweeted before the match that he wasn't fit to play but had been told to play. He suffered a terrible head injury early on & we were leading 2-1 when he went off. SG said it was a tactical move but in my view he was letting Antonio know that he was the boss. A couple of weeks later, Antonio had his best performance in a Wednesday shirt when he ripped Bournemouth apart single handed as we won 4-2 with ten men. While others grabbed the headlines with the goals, it was Antonio who won it pretty much on his own. If we want to replace him with a player of similar quality then it will cost us £5m because that is pretty much how good Antonio is. Sadly SG and some Wednesday fans couldn't see it (and some still can't).

it would only cost 5m for someone who is proven at this level, we could get someone for 1m who is as good but not tested at this level.
Our scouring of the lower/foreign leagues is terrible compared to most clubs in this division, hopefully this new position that is being advertised will rectify this

Shame that we let someone who is proven at this level go for £1.3m and Forest will probably make £3m profit on him if they sell him this summer. We could do a lot worse than buy him back for £4m but that would mean SG admitting he made a mistake so that won't happen unless SG gets the bullet.

The forest chairman about a month ago said they spent 8million on Antonio and assombalonga. Assombalonga was about £5.5m so we definitely got more than £1.3m

Well the grunters can't catch Brizzle and they are 13 points behind PNE who have a game in hand with seven games left. Looks like play off misery again if they make them
We can still catch Bum muff though if they lose every game

Story checks out.

I blame the sale of Antonio for why I have had to watch the worst mind numbing garbage since Len Ashurst was manager. I bought my ST last year on the assumption Antonio was in our squad then SG sells him two days before the season starts. Very hard to justify buying another ST (after 47 years) with no Antonio and SG still in charge.

SG made a decision, hindsight may show it wasn't the right one hypothetically, but I would prefer he makes the tough decisions rather than bottling them. Whether SG is still head coach next season or not, we are fortunately now in a position to not have to sell one of our players to bring in one!!! Timing is everything, this decision was 12 months too early unfortunately!!
I also am not concvinced that the loss of Antonio is the only reason we struggled at home. SG was too cautious or defensive for starters, and plenty of other players struggled as well. I accept we could have played more expansive football with MA, but maybe SG would have stifled him as well!! As regards your season ticket, give yourself a slap!!!! You have had one for 47 years, and you will buy number 48 as well because you are a Wednesday fan, not an Antonio fan!!!! We support the team no matter who is wearing the shirt and we go into every season with optimism because thats the way most of us are built. With or without SG, there will be a lot more optimism for next season and there is no way you are going to miss that!!! Besides, how would you do the match reports on here??
