It's all well and good saying after the event we "should have done this" or "could have done that" but at the time he wasn't the right fit and ended up being pushed onto the wing just so he was playing which didn't benefit us or the player
For me it comes back to the simple point that a loaned in player should be better than what you have either because our current players are not up to it or because of injury!! I am not sure we can say that Nuhiu, Best and Maguire were being so prolific that Afobe couldn't get a shot, I think it was SG who made the decision to play two strikers on the wings and two up the middle, and Maguire and Afobe on paper are better square pegs for those particular round holes, and it didn't work!!

I liked Afobe, started 2 games and scored 2 goals but it's obviously the reason he couldn't get a game up front.
Best played 13 scored 5
Nuhiu got 4 in the back end of the season
Maguire got double figures between December and May (didn't play before that).
Playing him on the wing was not best for us and terrible for his progress as a player

As was said earlier, there is no way Chansiri is gong to make immediate changes with either PA or SG until he has his people in place and comfortable, then you will see things start to change. He said he will be appointing two of his own people to work alongside them and report back to him on a daily basis, lets see who they are and what role they play.

Owlkev .. wanted to like your post more, Thurny, SG is NEVER going to be a great manager, and personally I want a GREAT manager, not a coach, he cannot inspire the players , and when the time comes with a major signing SG will NOT be able to tell him anything useful..Big Ron had a presence in the dressing room SG fails there, Atkinson could deal with big names and motivate them SG can't, I DO like the guy and he has some good attributes, but manager of the Massive is not one of them, so the Fisherman needs to say "be the Owls coach" or fu ck off, we want, need , deserve a better manager .. I have had too many years since to good days to put up with SG and his inept tactics, I want Premiership football, cup runs and Europe , ..something that will not happen with SG at the helm

I think we all agree with you there, at least I do!!! Defensively he (or PA, deson't matter which) has recruited well and he has us better organised there, but he has struggled with midfield and up front and particularly with tactics. This season has gone pretty much as most thought it would and better than some thought, the real success this year has ultimately been off the pitch with the takeover, that is what will shape us for years to come, and as you say SG should not have the starring role in our future.
