Snoots you should have been around when Huddersfield were winning the Div One every year. You are definitely retro.
That might be the way to go for the FA Cup - everybody has to wear retro kits ..... and retro from way back. That might appeal to the young.

So, what incentive would I propose for the Premier League teams to accept a move to playing in the First Round of the Cup entailing perhaps an extra game? I suggest no Premier League teams could play each other in the first round. That would give the EFL teams and non-leaguers an almost 1 in 3 chance of playing one of the big boys.
Ties would be numbered 1-64. The draw would begin with 64 numbers of which 20 would be drawn. First number out gets an unnamed as yet Premier side as home team . Second number out gets a Premier away team. Third number out home and so on. Result 20 ties to feature unnamed Premier Leaguers.
Then we draw out the EFL teams and non-leaguers as usual. Some will play each other, but 20 will know they have a Premier Ticket and will be having a small dickie fit. Then we fill in the gaps by drawing out th 20 Premier Leaguers in order. Kelly Somers is going into meltdown and Micah Richards is gtrying to muscle in to buy any car. Tie 63 sees Man City drawn at Weston Super Mare and their chairman is having breathing difficulties. Surely that would inject some excitement into the competition.
This draw lasts and excitement builds.
In the Third Round I would suggest one of the 16 ties would secretly be nominated as a Golden Tie. At the end of the draw its identity would be revealed. That tie, whatever would be played at a glamorous neutral venue abroad. Maybe the San Siro. Maybe in America. Maybe the Maracana.
Get some Razz in the old Mattaz. Let Tamowrth dream of the Maracana as they score that early goal against Hiuddersfield ...... until the Terriers bang in five.
