Luton Town captain Sonny Bradley is to leave the Championship club at the end of the season.

Bradley, 31, has made 175 appearances since arriving from Plymouth Argyle in 2018, 19 of them in 2022-23.

The club said the decision had been taken following "amicable discussions" with head coach Rob Edwards.

The Hatters finished third in the table and are preparing for the play-offs for the second successive season, having been beaten by Huddersfield a year ago.

"I have so much respect for him as a human being and a player, because he's done such a great job as captain of this club for such a long time," said Edwards.

"We have a huge couple of weeks ahead of us and he will play a big part in that, but I urge every supporter to thank him for what he has done for Luton Town whenever you get the chance."

Bradley scored Luton's first goal in the second tier following promotion from League One in 2019.

He did not play for four months of this season because of a knee injury, but has started the past five games to help Edwards' team stretch their unbeaten run to 14.

The first leg of their play-off semi-final against Sunderland takes place on Wearside on Saturday, with the return at Kenilworth Road next Tuesday.

The winners will play either Middlesbrough or Coventry at Wembley, on 27 May, for a place in the Premier League.

Tom Lockyer says he has "been given the all-clear" to resume his career after having heart surgery to address the problem that saw him collapse during Luton's play-off final win at Wembley.

The 28-year-old had an atrial fibrillation, a condition the NHS describes as causing "an irregular and often abnormally fast heart rate".

It caused the defender to collapse in the eighth minute of the Wembley final.

"I've had the operation to fix it and it shouldn't happen again," he said.

"There's not really any reason to say why that happened.

"I've been given the all-clear - it is what it is and I just want to draw a line under it now and move on.

"I've had my full heart checked and double checked with all the scans and tests they can do on a heart, and they've all come back positive."

The Luton captain is "thankful" his team-mates went on to secure promotion to the Premier League with a penalty shootout victory against Coventry City.

'I couldn't stop crying'

Lockyer said the medical emergency he suffered left him "really emotional" and in tears on the Wembley pitch as he was told he would play no further part in the game.

"It was a weird one," he recalled during his first interview with the club following the incident.

"I remember running backwards and then I went really light-headed and my legs went really weak straight away, as I was running back. I remember stumbling back and then all I remember was [physiotherapist] Chris Phillips over the top of me, and he was saying 'Locks, you're coming off'.

"I was like 'no mate, no mate, I'm fine', but he was saying 'no, it's serious Locks, you've collapsed. You're coming off'. Then it dawned on me that I was on the floor and this is actually serious.

"I just got really emotional. I couldn't stop crying on the floor.

"It was probably a lot worse for everyone else watching than it was for me because as soon as I came back around, I was fine. I never really felt in any danger and it definitely wasn't as bad as it looked."

'A hard watch'
The Wales defender said it was in the medical room under the Wembley stands that he was told the Hatters had taken the lead through Jordan Clark.

He went on to follow a live stream of the match while in an ambulance on the way to the Cleveland Clinic in London, where he celebrated victory in his hospital bed with family around him.

"It was a day of mixed emotions," Lockyer said.

"It was crazy. All week I'd been visualising walking up those steps to that trophy and to end it in a hospital bed is not quite what I had in mind. But I was immensely proud to lead the lads out at Wembley.

"I was obviously delighted but so sad at the same time that after 50-odd games in a season, it all comes down to this one massive game and I don't play a part in it - and I don't get to enjoy the celebrations afterwards.

"So it was a hard watch if I'm being honest, but I'm so delighted that the lads could get the job done. It made it so much better for me."

Luton Town have signed midfielder Shandon Baptiste following the end of his Brentford contract.

Baptiste, 26, becomes the Hatters' first signing of the summer.

He leaves the Gtech Community Stadium after four and a half years, having helped Brentford reach the Premier League and played 55 top-flight games for the Bees.

"I feel like Luton is the right place for me," he told the Hatters' website., external

"Watching the club play last season, it was clear that something big was happening here and I want to be a part of it.

"There are good players and a good manager here so I'm hopeful that we can do big things together.

"I've had a lot of injuries during my career, but I feel like I've passed that now and hopefully I can just look forward to doing great things in the Luton shirt."

Baptiste began his professional career at Oxford United before his move to west London in January 2020.

Luton Town defender Gabriel Osho has joined French club Auxerre following the expiry of his contract at Kenilworth Road.

Osho was part of the Hatters team that won promotion to the English top flight in 2022-23 and made 21 Premier League appearances last season, scoring twice.

The move will see the 25-year-old play in France's top flight after Auxerre were promoted under boss Christophe Pelissier and he has agreed a one-year deal, with an option for a further 12 months.

Luton, meanwhile, have signed defender Reuell Walters after he turned down a new contract at Arsenal.

The England Under-20 international did not play senior game for the Gunners but was on the bench for eight Premier Leagues games last season.

"Pathway is very important to him. That is one of the reasons why he is leaving Arsenal," said Luton manager Rob Edwards.

"He can play in a number of positions – right-back, right centre-back, right wing-back. He’s got lots of strings to his bow."

He is the second player to leave Luton this month, following midfielder Ross Barkley's switch to Aston Villa.

Luton Town have signed former Swansea City midfielder Liam Walsh on a permanent contract.

The 26-year-old was a free agent after leaving Swansea earlier in the summer and has spent three weeks training at Kenilworth Road.

Walsh began his career at Everton and also had a spell at Bristol City from 2018 to 2021 before moving to south Wales.

"Liam’s a super talented footballer, with a great football brain and technically very good. I saw him when he was 16 playing for Everton and thought then he’d go on to a be a real superstar," said Luton manager Rob Edwards.

“He’s not one who is going to come in and play 90 minutes straight away but he can certainly come on to the pitch, help us get control of the ball when we need it or find that killer pass."

Walsh helped Coventry City win the League One title during a loan spell in 2019-20 and has also spent time at Yeovil, Birmingham City and Hull during his career.

He joins a Luton side which has earned one point from their first two Championship games of the season.

Details about the length of his contract have not been disclosed.

Luton Town have signed German midfielder Tom Krauss on a season-long loan deal from Bundesliga side Mainz 05.

Krauss, who has played 14 times for Germany Under-21s, made 29 league appearances for Mainz last season.

"I like English football and English fans, and that's why I'm here and I can't wait," Krauss told the Championship club., external

"It's a different style of football compared to Germany, but I've had a lot of experience in the first and second leagues, playing 130 games or so in four years."

The 23-year-old originally came through the RB Leipzig academy in his native Germany and was the first player born in the city to play for the first team.

Hatters boss Rob Edwards added: "What we like about Tom is that he's aggressive, full of running, wants to press, wants to play and wants to recover the ball quickly.

"We won't get to see Tom straight away – he's recovering having picked up a slight knock while in training with Mainz recently – but what's been brilliant for us is how keen he is to join."

Luton Town have signed former Chelsea wing-back Victor Moses.

The 33-year-old ex-Nigeria international joins the Championship club as a free agent, having left Russian side Spartak Moscow earlier in the summer.

He spent almost four years with Spartak, having initially joined them on loan from Chelsea in 2020.

Moses, who started his professional career with Crystal Palace before moving on to Wigan Athletic when they were in the Premier League in 2010, featured for Luton in a match behind closed doors last week.

Luton have only managed one point from four Championship games this season following relegation from the Premier League in May.

They are away to Millwall on Saturday in their first game since the international break.

Details of the length of Moses' contract have not been disclosed.

Andros Townsend has completed a move to Antalyaspor from Luton Town after the Turkish club's transfer registration embargo was lifted.

The 33-year-old winger signed a contract with Antalyaspor in August but Fifa had banned the Super Lig club from registering players.

That meant Townsend was able to train with his new team-mates but could not play or be officially announced as an Antalyaspor player.

Townsend said last month he felt he was in limbo, saying "I don't know who owns me".

He added that it had been a "crazy couple of weeks" but that it was "the right move" and "something was telling me to make it happen".

An Antalyaspor source told BBC Sport the Super Lig club owed outstanding money to two former players and hoped to complete Townsend's transfer when the debts were paid.

Following the announcement of his official registration Townsend posted on his Instagram: "A new chapter, can't wait to get started."

The former Everton, Crystal Palace and Tottenham player signed a long-term deal with Luton in January after joining as a free agent in October 2023.

He made 31 appearances for the Hatters last season as they were relegated from the Premier League and was a late substitute in their first game of the Championship season against Burnley on 12 August.

Luton boss Rob Edwards said it is the "right fit" for Townsend "at this stage of his career".

"Andros' professionalism since he set foot inside The Brache [Luton's training round] has been exemplary – his discipline and attention to detail is something I hope has rubbed off on our young players," Edwards added.

Good player this lad

Wing-back Alfie Doughty has signed a new contract to extend his stay at Luton Town.

The versatile 24-year-old, who can also play as a midfielder, moved to Kenilworth Road in the summer of 2022 from Stoke City and was a breakout star during the Hatters' Premier League campaign last season.

"It’s a relief. I want to get back into the Premier League with Luton, especially after this couple of years we’ve had. It’s my third year now, I love the club and I’m happy to stay," he told Luton's club website, external.

The length of Doughty's new contract is undisclosed.

Manager Rob Edwards said: "This is very good news for the football club, and good news for Alfie as well.

"It’s a big commitment from a big player for us, everyone knows how popular Alfie is with the fans and within the squad, and we are all delighted to get it sorted.”

Doughty played in all but one of Luton's Premier League matches last season, scoring twice and providing eight assists.
