Good save, good goal

We keep giving them chances, and free kicks in our half. A goal was going to come.

Lack of pace at the back has cost us this game.

Now TV stream behaving tonight, pity our defense isn't.

Did they sneak Paul Merson on when we weren't looking?

Good. Not one of our defenders are good enough. Including Helik.

I've been told off before for saying I don't actually rate helik. He's not bad in the air, but again I don't think he is as imperious as he should be for his height. His passing is awful but I will give it to him that he gets on the score sheet often and does make good late challenges/blocks.

Pearson too as above. For me you know it's bad when tom lees is both your quickest defender and the best on the ball. I question which would be the most mobile and technical back line. Lees helik Pearson or Peter Clarke, Nathan Clarke and boom boom?

For three windows or more we've known that an overhaul is in order. I'll let Cartwright off for last summer, he was thrown straight into it big time and Warnock should have known way better. The resigning players coming out of the budget and not knowing doesn't wash with me. Ward, koroma and Ruffles had gone. Released. They obviously aren't included, but after the summer is on Cartwright.

He appointed moore, god awful, I knew before he came that Moore's football was atrocious but he came out with some bs about attacking. Sure I worked with a few owls at the time so got their opinion, but if I can find someone to ask then surely he can?

January we get two injury prone strikers, a defensive midfielder that the season before was in the reserve side of a then fellow championship side but as a winger and recalled an unproven fullback and said it was as good as a signing, our position in the league probably made it harder but come on, there's loads of players out there who'd have given owt for the chance and he/we're saying none were good enough? Sounds more like we didn't want to look too far.

Breitenriter, not going to say much, but how could they expect a foreign coach, with no experience of that league to come into a relegation battle with a squad that he has no idea about and it to work? Wagner had a lot longer in a season to gauge his squad and a window to bring a few in. Relegation for DW was also not a disaster, it was part of an attitude shift.

Now we're onto the night. This summer more than all the other windows needed to be right and a full overhaul, separate the wheat from the chaff, get rid of the bad eggs and egos. Burgzorg, Thomas and rudoni have gone but the rest remain. We needed to add pace to the centre of our defence as a minimum. We needed someone good on the ball there and or a left footer, at this point weve got nothing new, we want to play a right back out of position, the rest of the central defenders are as you were. It's flogging a dead donkey. This guy from wolves is going to have to be something

Miller and Sorensen look good and offer pace to the wider areas, so I'll give that. Our midfield needed improvement. Hogg is slack in possession and past it, wiles is wiles and kasumu is a Labrador puppy who's second touch is often a tackle when he's in the middle of the park. We've added Evans who's was player of the year in this league for Bristol rovers and kane who's been highly regarded for a few years to add more technical players in there, but we've not added anything with bite or mobility. There was a loose link to erahon of Lincoln that came to nothing, that was the sort of player we needed to put in there. now Kane is injured, we are almost hoping and praying that iorpenda is good enough and ready.

Strike force, where do I start. Healey, marshall and koroma are the only ones likely to score over twenty goals, but that might also be between them. Koroma will miss a lot of clear chances before he gets to 10 goals. It'll be almost ends with 10 should have had 30, but he's a winger, not a striker. Healey if he stays fit should get a fair few, if is the big word. Marshall is young and unproven so who actually knows, already looks better than the last striker we had on loan from west ham though. Ward is long past it and should have gone last summer, Rhodes should have stayed. He shouldn't be here anymore and then we have the only poacher in the squad, unfortunately with harratt that's not on a football pitch. I'd have sacked him off ages ago, in fact I honestly prefer hudlin even if it's for the comedy factor. I do think that if something clicks with him (probably his knees) then he would be an absolute nightmare to play against purely for height alone, but I ain't holding my breath.

If I can see it and everyone else can see it, why can't Cartwright, well he did, he all our striking overhaul eggs in one basket and missed out on it without a real backup. Maybe his backup was Taylor but Cartwright has been messed about with that one too, again no apparent back up option. He's had a year and a bit with his team to identify someone and here we are a few days away from the window closing and our squad is a long way from being good enough and balanced.

For me, he's got a few days to address it and now it's end of window panic. We need 3/4 minimum, defender with pace, left sided if poss, if not we need another defender that is left sided. we need a holding midfielder as mentioned higher. We need a goalscorer and something a bit different up there too, either real pace or someone stronger, if we can't double the goalscorer with one of those.

We could have done with some of the other squad members being moved onto pastures new too

I say lack of pace at the back cost us last night and it did, once again a ball down the middle and our Cb’s can’t cope. We’ve seen it in every game this season but until last night we’d got away with it. Having said that, the lack of leadership, the lack of shape and comedy defending can’t be excused in the second half.

With Spencer potentially out injured and Pearson now suspended that CB signing is now essential, it was before but we’ve just shown how short we are in that position playing this formation.

I know the lad has only started two games but I think it’s easy enough to spot that Headley isn’t good enough. He had a good game against a very poor Morcambe and I think that’s about his level, let’s try and shift him over there.

Middle of the park, Kane was supposed to be the solution of passsing through the lines but now he’s out until after the International break so we still need a creative player in there. Hoggs praises we’re being being sung by Radio Leeds pre match on Saturday but he’s like a crab on the ball, slow and uncomfortable.

Up front, I still think we will have enough goals in Healey,Koroma,Ward,Marshall and Radulovic but as JJ says we need to keep at least of them fit at any one time.
