Preston North End can confirm that manager Ryan Lowe has left the club by mutual consent.

Ryan joined the club in December 2021, leading us to 13th, 12th and 10th-placed finishes in his two and a half seasons as the club’s first team manager.

Following discussions that took place on Sunday 11th August, it was mutually agreed that now was an appropriate time for a change to be made.

Ryan leaves with the thanks of everyone at the club for his hard work, dedication and commitment, and we wish him and his family the very best for the future.

For the two upcoming fixtures against Sunderland and Swansea City this week, Mike Marsh – accompanied by Peter Murphy and Ched Evans – will be in charge of the team.

Arrangements beyond these two fixtures will be announced next week.

Unless Peter Ridsdale has a secret plan this looks from the outside like a dodgy move. Having watched Rooney's Plymouth on TV fail to play in Sheffield I suspect one relegation place already has a tentative booking.

I can't believe Ryan Lowe wouldn't have splashed some cash for you had he been offered the chance to improve a mid-table team, so the question is will a new man be any more able to cut his cloth to suit that budget, or is money now likely miraculously to appear? Losing to the Blunts on Saturday can't have come as that much of a shock to anyone, so what really prompted the sacking decision and when was it really made?

Not scored in8 of the last 9, 6 straight defeats scored 0 should have gone end of last season

I did try to post a reply earlier, but my AV app is playing silly buggers again and wouldn't let it through. Can't be bothered with a full replay but three points
1. I'd have loved 3 seasons, nay 1 season of mid-table mediocrity for Town
2. I'll take where we are now after 1 game at the end of the season instead
3. Good luck with whoever you get but don't faff for too long. Roonski might be available again by this time next month.

Think Wayne is at his last club if it goes tits up, although still think he did a fabulous job under the circumstances at Derby
