Coventry City have signed Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Yasin Ayari on loan for the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old Swede joined the Seagulls from AIK Solna on a four-and-a-half-year deal in January for £3.5m.

He was given his debut in a 5-0 FA Cup win over Grimsby and has made three Premier League appearances, including a first start against Aston Villa in May.

Ayari played for Sweden at age-group levels before winning his first senior cap against Finland in January.

"He is a versatile player who can play across the midfield area, but predominantly central, and is technically adept too with pace and energy," said Sky Blues boss Mark Robins.

Ayari is Coventry's 10th signing since their Championship play-off final defeat by Luton Town on penalties at Wembley, following the arrivals of Luis Binks, Haji Wright, Milan van Ewijk, Jay Dasilva, Ellis Simms, Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Brad Collins, Joel Latibeaudiere and Bobby Thomas.

Last week, Robins stated that he wanted four more incomings before the transfer window closes.

Coventry drew 1-1 at Swansea on Saturday and have taken four points from their opening three games of the new season.

Ayari said he had followed Coventry last season when compatriot and former Brighton forward Viktor Gyokeres - sold to Sporting Lisbon during the summer - was leading the Sky Blues' attack.

He told the club website: "England is good. The Premier League is the best in the world, so this is the best place to develop and play football.

"I've decided to come on loan to Coventry because I think it's the right move for me to develop and become a better player."

Coventry City have taken their total of summer signings to 11 by signing defender Liam Kitching from League One side Barnsley for an undisclosed fee.

Harrogate-born Kitching, 23, who began his career at Leeds United, then moved to Barnsley from Forest Green, had three years left on his existing deal.

He has now signed a four-year contract with Mark Robins' Sky Blues.

"Liam is a talented player, who is versatile across the back line," said boss Robins.

"He is a strong defender who is comfortable with the ball at his feet."

Coventry have made 11 signings this summer on the back of the sale of top scorer Viktor Gyokeres to Sporting Lisbon.

Kitching is the third arrival from Barnsley's beaten League One play-off side, following keeper Brad Collins and Bobby Thomas, who was at Oakwell on loan from Burnley.

Coventry City have made their first signing of the January transfer window by bringing in Victor Torp.

The 24-year-old Danish central midfielder has signed for an undisclosed fee from Norwegian top-flight side Sarpsborg 08.

Subject to international clearance, he has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal until June 2028.

"He is a player who brings to us creativity and athleticism," said Sky Blues manager Mark Robins.

"He will need a period of adjustment but we are confident that he will adapt to the intensity and demands of training and the Championship."

The former Denmark Under-20 international began his career with FC Midtjylland in his native Denmark.

He joined Belgian side KV Kortrijk for the 2021-22 campaign on loan before moving to Sarpsborg, where he scored six times last season in 30 appearances.

After another faltering start to the season, last season's beaten Championship play-off finalists Coventry are now unbeaten in eight league and cup games - and have risen to eighth, three points shy of the top six, going into Saturday's derby with leaders Leicester City.

Coventry City have signed forward Ephron Mason-Clark for an undisclosed free from Peterborough and loaned him straight back to the League One side.

The 24-year-old, who has agreed a four-and-a-half-year Coventry deal, has scored 15 goals for the Posh this term.

"Having Ephron back on loan was the only way that I would sanction this transfer," said Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony.

"I look forward to seeing him terrify defenders for the rest of the season."

Mason-Clark has scored 25 goals in 82 games overall for Peterborough.

Coventry City boss Mark Robins says captain Liam Kelly leaves the Sky Blues as a "club legend".

Midfielder Kelly made a total of 180 appearances for Coventry after arriving in 2017, and helped the club earn promotion from League Two in 2018.

The 34-year-old also skippered the side when they won promotion from League One as title winners in 2020.

"He has been an impeccable professional on and off the field, and an integral part of Coventry City’s rise through the divisions in recent years," Robins told the club website., external

"Liam Kelly will be rightly lauded as a club legend."

Kelly has been released alongside 33-year-old goalkeeper Simon Moore, while 26-year-old midfielder Callum O’Hare has been offered a new deal.

Coventry City have signed winger Raphael Borges Rodrigues from Australian A-League side Macarthur on a four-year deal.

The 20-year-old scored six goals in 33 appearances for the South Western Sydney club after joining them from top-flight rivals Melbourne City in July 2023.

The Netherlands-born Australia Under-23s international, known as Raphael, is Coventry's first summer signing.

"He is a talented and athletic winger who has just enjoyed an impressive 2023-24 campaign," said Sky Blues boss Mark Robins.

“Rapha has some great attributes and a willingness to work and learn, and I’m sure we will enjoy his development during his time with us.”

Coventry, who were beaten by Manchester United on penalties in the FA Cup semi-finals, finished ninth in the Championship.

Coventry City have made their second summer signing by bringing in defender Luis Binks from Italian Serie A side Bologna for an undisclosed fee.

Subject to international clearance, the 22-year-old centre-back, who was on loan with the Sky Blues last season, has signed a four-year deal that will start on 1 July.

The Kent-born former Tottenham Hotspur Academy product first left English football when he joined Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact in February 2020.

He made eight appearances for the Canadian club before being signed in August 2020 by Bologna, who loaned him back to Montreal for the rest of the season.

Binks made the first of his 15 Bologna first-team appearances in September 2021, before spending the rest of the 2022-23 season on loan at Serie B side

Coventry City have signed midfielder Jack Rudoni from relegated Huddersfield Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old Londoner becomes City's third summer signing following the arrival of Australian winger Raphael Borges Rodrigues and Bologna defender Luis Binks.

Like Raphael and Binks, Rudoni has signed a four-year deal.

He help will fill the void if, as has been reported, Callum O'Hare leaves the Championship club when his contract expires on 30 June.

Rudoni joined Huddersfield in July 2022 on a four-year deal just eight days after then boss Carlos Corberan had left the Terriers.

But he still ended up playing for seven different managers in his two seasons at the club - Danny Schofield, Mark Fotheringham, caretaker boss Narcis Pelach, Neil Warnock, Darren Moore, another caretaker boss Jon Worthington and Andre Breitenreiter.

"Jack is a talented player with great technical ability," said Robins.

"He is adept at getting the ball and driving teams forward and creating opportunities. He is a young player who we are sure will be popular with our supporters."

Rudoni added: "The atmosphere at the Coventry Building Society Arena was one of the first things I thought of when I knew that I was coming here.

"I have played there a few times over the years and the atmosphere is always great. I can't wait to get going. Even just being at the training ground has given me that buzz to play again."

After losing to Luton Town in the Championship play-off final in 2023, Coventry finished ninth last season, nine points shy of the top six.

Midfielder Callum O'Hare has left Coventry City after his contract ended at the Championship club.

The 26-year-old made 182 appearances for the Sky Blues, having initially joined on a loan deal in August 2019.

He scored 22 goals for the club, and was part of the squad that reached the FA Cup semi-finals last season, where they eventually lost on 4-2 penalties to Manchester United at Wembley.

He scored 10 goals during 2023-24 as the club finished ninth in the Championship.

"Coventry City would like to thank Callum for his contribution to the club that was unfortunately significantly disrupted due to injury over his last two seasons with us," the club said in a statement.

Coventry City have signed Sweden international goalkeeper Oliver Dovin from Hammarby for an undisclosed fee.

Dovin, 22, has signed a four-year deal. He is London-born of a Swedish mother, moved to Sweden as a baby and has two full caps, having previously represented his country at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 levels.

With two first-team keepers already at the club, in Ben Wilson and Brad Collins, the arrival of Dovin is sure to increase speculation that one of those two will leave the Sky Blues.

Coventry manager Mark Robins said: “Oliver is a highly-rated goalkeeper whose progress we have followed for some time, and he will add further quality and competition to our goalkeeping group.

“He is a strong physical presence in goal, a good shot stopper and able to distribute the ball well too."
