Regarding your #GreenFootballWeekend or #TransferToVeg comment AmChaff. I made a very tasty mixed veg dauphinoise last week. Spiced and chillied up a tad and a soupçon of garlic to taste. Posh name for a potato, veg and cheese sause casserole if it you're wondering chaps. It made up a good plateful for one meal and half a plate for the other two as there was plenty of room next to the chicken or the steak. I'll be fnding more reasons to park a few more of my 5 a day in the spaces next to my favoured proteins (assorted meat, shellfish or fish varieties) this week too, as I normally do.

I already take multi-vitamins, mainly for the Vitamin D but I'm really not interested in all the other supplements required to make up for what a veggy only diet provides (or rather doesn't).

Don't get me started on the Mr./Mrs. Methane argument. Beanz Meanz Windz regardless of their "protein" or "carb" content. I'm following a carb cycling diet to lose weight, which means low carb (no bread, spuds, rice, pasta, fruit), higher protein days followed by a day when you can more or less go nuts. Well actually the nuts are allowed on low carb days too. Daft as it sounds, you're are allowed bacon and eggs on low carb days, just stay off the fried bread and what the Yanks call grits (fried spuds). Fruit has natural sugars so they aren't allowed on low carb days. That really screws up your 5 a day plans sometimes.

You're allowed incohol in (ahem) moderation because, how the hell else would you stick to this crap?

By the way, if it's a "going out for a meal day" and you're trying to stick to the veggie carb cycling plan (good luck with that anyway) just make it a high carb day, unless you're happy to pay £12-£15 for a plate of peas and carrots. Steak, peas and carrots if you're not a veggie is far more value but still a rip off. Just go the whole hog and get the spuds, gravy and Yorkshires. Have two days off the high carbs when you get home. Two day's off the greasy chip butties never hurt anyone.

I don't expect people to go veggie but I don't like them dissing vegetarians. I've never lectured but people don't have to be veggie to try it. Snoots being the prime example. I'm not vegan but if the vegan option looks good, I'll have it. And vegan cakes are seriously good.

The dauphinoise sounds delish.

Well, all I say is make your choices as you wish but don't lecture me either unless you're prepared to hear my side of the argument. Same with the sceptic knuckles lot that come round selling me their religion. Well to be honest, I don't listen to them at all. I just say my religion is in the back window of my car, (a big Town sticker), let me know when you want to join. I doubt many are even Wolves or Baggies fans to be honest. They never seem to want to talk football. Strange folk.

They seem to be good at that. Didn't they practice it somewhere at the weekend?

I won't bore you with the details AmChaff but just look up Potato Dauphinoise or Au Gratin and instead of all sliced potatoes just add an assortment of sliced veg (and peas if you like) in between the spuds and whatever seasonings take your fancy. The cheesy white sauce ain't too hard to make, maybe put some in half way through the build so it's not too watery half-way down, and the sauce can have some or all of your seasoning/spices. Like everything spicy - it's usually better the day after.

I still prefer a BBQ'd steak marinaded overnight with a nice smokey Canadian BBQ sauce. Just saying ..... Whistle
